I have a strange issue with Hyper Final Fight 1. The game plays perfectly normal all the way through up until the second to last part of level 6 (the final two areas are listed as 6d and 6e in the "level.txt"). As soon as I beat "6c", it fades out as normal, the "loading" screen comes up and then, instead of loading the next part of the level, it fades away into the credits! I have tried to reburn the PAK file with different versions of the 1st-read.bin file but they all yield the same results. Any ideas/info as to whats going on and if I can fix it in any way? Thanks for any info.

liquidpolicenaut, I'm not sure in what to help with the DreamCast but I can point out you can paxplode it in a PC and you can find errors and you can probably change it, I guess.

That's what I had before. You can try to find errors, but before you do that, you need to check with the OpenBOR log txt and find out what error caused the problem. Once you find the error, correct it. I forgot how I corrected it, but I did, however, makepack it into a clear one. I suggest you do it before you put it to CD if you're a DreamCast person. I'm not a DreamCast person though. That's all I can help.

 Sounds like mod bug instead of engine bug. That means, reburning disc won't solve your problem at all.

 Like maxman said, what did the log tell you about the error?

I was already using the Neo Editor pack and was looking through all the txt files to find out what the problem was. Since I am new to the whole modding scene, I didnt even realize there was a log file. So, sure enough, I edited the levels.txt so I could try and, lo and behold, I found the answer!  Simply put, the stage6d.txt file had two misspellings of the word "sandwich" and that's the reason it wouldn't load...

I decided to try my first attempt at fixing a mod and I made a few superficial changes. For example, I changed "Industrial Area" to "Seaside Area" to better match the new level. I also fixed up many shadows and dark areas. I also redid the intro and ending, but only by fixing the wording and alignment of the text..

Since the error is in the actual file thats on the site to download, should/could I submit it for reupload?

 Hmmm... why don't you try the mod fully 1st? see if there were more bugs.

Try the version included to BoR Collection Vol. 2 and see if that issue was fixed: http://www.dcevolution.net/index.php?id=beats_of_rage_collection_volume_2

How to mod:
1 Pick an interesting game: There are plenty of 8-bit/16-bit classics waiting for a remake
2 Rip your own sprites & stages
3 Use a custom palette: http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/tutorial.htm
4 Check your offsets: http://www.lavalit.com/index.php?topic=1099.0

Did you know?
Using void main()
{
playgif("data/my.gif", 0, -4, 1);
}

as spawnscript streams a GIF anim instead of loading it

That's actually the one I tried first! lol I also tried the one on this iste and it's the same thing. It's ok though since I did in fact isoltae the problem and fix it so it's all good....

I tried out my fixed version of the Hyper Final Fight pak I mentioned above and everything seems to be working perfectly when I'm running it on my Dreamcast. Yay!
