Huh? Doesn't your first post say it works in 2635?

nervous Sorry, I... forgot about that...

I'll try url hacking later to see if I can pinpoint the version it broke.

EDIT: Plombo, your tip isn't working so far. I've been trying to access every version from 2650 thus far, and they're all only 695 bytes, and thus can't be opened. Does the server purge old versions or something? I even tried 2705 like ryomaneo said, same thing.

EDIT2: Ok, got some to work. Here we go:
(No = bgspeed doesn't work)
2720- No
2719- No
2718- No
2717- Can't access (695 bytes)
2716- No
2715- No
2714- Can't access
2713- Can't access
2712- Can't access
2711- No
2710 through 2696- Can't access
2695- Works

So, 2695 is the last version bgspeed worked in.

Thanks for the testing!

As for the 695-byte files, rename them from .7z to .html and you'll find that they're actually 404 pages.  Wink

I figured they were just nonexistant, and not just deleted. I have seen the daily snapshops jump around in version number, so...

Anyways, can't wait for it to be fixed!

The following is slightly useless, but at least it's some interesting trivia.  In case you were wondering, the version numbers jump around because they match the revision numbers of OpenBOR's code repository, accessible by selecting SVN on LavaLit's toolbar.  When there is more than one commit in one day, the revision number goes up by more than one and the version number follows.

Anyway, about the bug...bgspeed probably broke between 2701 and 2709.  SX made some major changes in those revisions to free up a ton of memory, but it has a few unexpected side effects that are still being ironed out.  Bgspeed seems to be one of them.

I think SX is the only developer who understands the relevant part of the code...so it'll probably be fixed when he has time to fix it.

I understand what Plombo said, but just so we're all clear: it's still broke in 2757.

I should be able to fix this in the next couple of days or so.  It sounds like some of the backwards compatibility code that converts the default background commands into bglayers is broken if bglayers aren't affected by this glitch.

Yup.  And compilation is apparently broken after 2802. Sad

I have pinpointed revision 2700 as the revision that broke bgspeed.  Not sure why it did, though.

Bgspeed fixed in 2808.

EDIT: Water is fixed in 2808, too.
