My 2nd Project. My attempt at merging 2 of Konami's biggest franchises into one brand new 2-D game. I always had the idea to do this. I haven't thought of a sub-title for it yet, but basically it all centers around Dracula being resurrected in modern day (20xx) Wallachia which has turned into a sprawling metropolis and then everything turns to ****. This would explain the use of the modern day weaponary (guns) and I also could keep the traditional Castlevanian Weaponary. The descendent of the Belmont Family (who doesn't believe his heritage) has to live up to his duty and protect the city from pending doom. I plan on incorporating the 360 range of motion and returning classic gameplay from some of the earlier CastleVaina games. (I already have this idea about swinging from lamp post to lamp post with the Vampire Killer.) I also plan to make alot of Castlevania/Contra hybrids that will make alot of fans happy. Thought's and ideas please.

Hey. The fonts look like from Contra. Did you sprite edit the fonts? :ru_sure: They look cool.

On a second thought, what was your first mod? You mention this as your second mod.

Question: Are the chars from Castlevania and Contra gonna team up in that mod?

Yes, I did edit them. I am making a hybrid of the 2 games. There will not be a team up, it will be a new decendent of the Belmonts using modern weaponary.

Thanxs talic!  That looks awsome. And I like the concept very much! I already have a brand new main character in mind. But, I am really feeling that Richter sprite. Maybe as a hidden character when you complete the game? Can I use that?

Talic, do you want to help out with the project with the sprites as well? If you want to help, just shoot me a PM and I will bounce some ideas off ya. I just found the Contra 4 character sprites online. I am gonna start on the main character sprites and hopefully finish most by today.

Playable Character #1 (Player 2)

I Basically have the concept of being able to switch between the Vampire Killer and Gun at anytime. The Gun obviously won't work on all enemies though. Jeremiah doesn't use the Vampire Killer, but will have a chain whip/grappling hook. He will also have the ability to run a electric current through it. So in esscence it will be an electric whip. I am toying with the idea of Jeremiah being sort of a gunsmith. So he will employ alot more modern weaponary and maybe have upgradeable guns throughout the game.

Player 1 will be "Harker" Belmont. Hopefully, I will come up with a great idea for his sprite soon.

More pics of Jeremiah Van Helsing. You have the ability to switch between his gun and chain whip at anytime. The rounds from his gun were forged from a Sacred Cross. (That's why it's able to effect the evil and undead.) Also if you notice, his "Order of the Holy Cross" move is a little different in my CastleVania. It's no long a super (screen-filling) move or a boomerang. You are able to take the Cross out at anytime to effect enemies. (Doesn't work on all enemies.)

Damn your good! Yes, 8 direction firing. 360 whipping. Somersault and Richter's backflip. (I'm spriting it as we speak.) As for aliens? Well, they won't be called exactly "aliens," but they can be classified as such. I do have some Contra/CastleVania hybrids in mind. I do want to make the Count a bit more alien than Vampire. As for a "modern" CastleVania, (it's my all time favorite title) the games have always been historically accurate. So I want to incorporate classic CastleVaina elements and give them a modern twist. Some examples I can share with you are, Dracula's Castle resurrects on top of the largest skyscraper in the city and then turns it into something demonic. So you will actually have to enter the building, fight up all the floors (also a "clocktower" reference) and then make it to Dracula's Chamber for the final battle. The very first boss battle in the city is on a huge bridge leading out of Wallachia where you will fight a giant boss (all the bosses will be ridiculously large, I am talking Contra/CastleVania 3 large) and to avoid it's charges I am bring back the whip swinging (from Super Castlevania 4) and you will have to whip the light posts to swing over and avoid it's attacks. So things like this. The difficulty level will be HIGH (just like in any contra game) and sometimes you will fight multiple bosses.

I am leaving the forum open for suggestions, ideas, and if anyone wants to provide "hybrid" sprites for enemies, please do them in GIF format only and you can post them here and then look up my personal e-mail on the PM and send them to me. I will take the best ideas and incorporate them into the game.

 Interesting! 1st boss gives high challenge.

 That reminds me, there are modern armors in Castlevania for Genesis. One has wheels and moves back and fight while the other wields machine gun. 4th boss is comprised of gears in fact.

 Anyways, enemies don't have to be modern IMO. some enemies like mermans, bats, will o wisps and skeletons from Castlevania games should be good enough for this mod.
