Nah, no cheat trick on palette stuff! That's one basic aspect modders must understand. ;) ;)

i dont think its 8bit cos video file says colourdepth 32bit

Ah great, that means you could forget about Beats of Rage palette and make your own palette.
If you want quick start you can just use that palette but if you want cleaner and good start, you need to get unique palette. To do this, either gather all of Ash' sprites in a sheet and get the palette from this sheet OR just pick one or 2 sprite which most likely contains all colors he needs then get the palette.

what do u think about the block move having no bbox ?

I disagree. You should control number of enemies instead.
Also it looks more cool seeing block flashes when during block :)

dumb question but how do u save a ACT pallette file ? looked online and its very confusing... like i said if i put the normal sprites with the new sprites on one image the new ones spaz out so cant make a new pallette image that way. so can i make Openbor refer to 2 images for pallette ? one from old sprites and one from new sprites ?

i tried 'pallette' command with old sprites combined with 'alternatepal' command referring to a new sprite but didnt work :(

also tried 'globalmap' function but that did nothing... could someone do me a favour and make an image with a pallette image from the 2 following sprites ? those combined should work i think

In Photoshop it's under IMAGE -> MODE -> COLOR TABLE - Then you will see the palette with option to save it, make sure you choose *.ACT

The new sprites already using a full 256 colour palette, rather than combining palettes, you need to convert the old sprites to use the new palette.

hmmm could be a useful tool, will have to play around and see if i can get it to work. ive been starting a simpsons mod and having sprites have different colours so this may be the trick im after.... if i can work it out of course

i tried to use it a couple of times but didnt do what i wanted... i put input file as one of the old sprites, output file as one of the new sprites and palette file as the pallette file from the old sprites and when it converted all it seemed to do was ovberwrite the new sprite and paste the old sprite in its place...

also tried opposite way where file i want to edit was input and file i wanted to use as the right pallette was the output file and that files PAL file was pallette, tried to convert but said didnt recognise GIF extension lol

It's One of the MOST useful tools here!! just two or three clicks and can apply palette to lot of files!!! without the program is a very painful task!!
I think english is not your native language and because of that you have problems with palapply, but try following the next steps:

use batch mode.

Palette file: any image containing ALL the colours you want for the character, make sure you choose the "pink" as the first colour on the colour table (the 1st colur on the colour table, will be considered the "transparent" colour).

Input file, all the files on which you want to apply the new palette
output file: the directory and format of the desired created files.

it's pretty easy to use, the difficult part (for me, as I can only use paint.net, with a lot of lag and slowdown), is to create the new palette.
