Any video tutorials ?

Hi

I am having trouble understanding the openbor manuals, they are too confusing for me to understand.

When I am opening the various editors, I am completely lost on where to go next

Character Editor - cant seem to load any sprites
Level Editor - cant seem to load any levels

I looked on youtube and there were no video tutorials

does anybody have any video tutorials they can provide to shed some light and make things easy.

 Sorry, there aren't any as far as I know. It would be too tough to make IMO since there are many things to show.

 Modding requires imagination, you need to imagine what would happen if you edit or make something for your mod.
 Also modding requires comprehension, you need to comprehend what each command does. This is tough work, that's why trial n error is highly recommended. Really, trial n error is much better than video IMO .

Most modders use Notepad for editing both characters and levels.  Any graphical utilities for that purpose are unofficial, although two (obeditor and OpenBorStats) are in fairly widespread use.

If you want to actually understand character/level creation, the best thing you can do are look inside an existing mod (I suggest Beats of Rage to start with since it's very simple) and see how it works.  Also, the BOR modding tutorial is helpful, although somewhat old.

I did first start with the simple original Beats of Rage before. I was learning how to put my own chars in it, but didn't know how to make my colors. Yeah, as Plombo says, you can start the modding tutorial from SenileTeam in their site. That's where I got it from. I began modding on late Summer 2008 (late July 2008). You're gonna learn the basics of coding from BOR. Try it, experience it, and if you want your game to be like what you expect it to be, then go with the OpenBor manual. I have the manual to help me learn how to code.
