Title: How to add characters to your M.U.G.E.N
Post by: Vibrant on March 22, 2012, 11:28:32 am
So this is a tut on how to add characters to your Mugen.  Procedure is as follows:

Assuming you have a M.U.G.E.N folder extracted to your computer, first you'd take look inside:

Notice the folder labeled "chars" that is where you extract your characters to.  All of the characters go in there.

Now open the "char" folder and you'll notice the folders with the character's names on them.  Note if you are just starting there will most likely only be a folder labeled "kfm" pretty much the character everyone starts out with.

We are going to add Kula_XIII.  Now in order for her to show up in your Mugen you must use the exact name as her folder.  With that in mind let's move on.

Take a look at the next picture here:

We are now inside her folder.  Every character has a "DEF" file inside of their folder.  It's one of the first folders you see when you open the character's folder. Always make sure that this file is the name name as the folder, otherwise the character will not show up in Mugen.

Now let's go back into our Mugen folder

Open the data folder and it should have a select.def file.

The select.def is where you add the names of the character folders to.  Open the select.def and scroll down until you see " ;Insert your characters below."

As you can see, I've added her name to the def file, make sure you save afterwards.  For now don't worry about the stage and order after the character name.

Now that is how you add characters to your Mugen, any questions ask here.
