Hello Friends,
today is the release date from the avengers film here in Brazil and i decided to post something about my next game the Avengers
for this game i will use the same core as marvel wargems plus some new moves like: dive attacks, superjump, shoot projectiles while in the air, i also want to do a grab foward animation to grab and walk enemies like in the captain america and the avengers game.
This time i will use a different resolution too, it will be 960x540 and using normal sprites, with this i can achieve the sprites size i want for the game without need to resize
i will use sprite filters like hq2x and 2xsai to create real huge enemies and it gives a real cool effect in game

here on this image we can see the default low res sprites fighting against sentinel using hq2x filter
im really excited to work with this and create more cool giant bosses for the game
i will not spoil the plot in this game also bu i will share images from the sprites this game will have.

for build those amazing sprites in this game i count with friends who are helping me in this game Alan Joestar and other mugen creators who will allow me to use his sprites

in this mod i will do some cool things i wished do in wargems but could not be done.
actually im dealing with the sounds and hit sparks, fonts and title screens for this game, while my friends work on some sprites i need for the game
once again will be a 7 stages game with lots of playable characters and secret ones.
for now the main rooster will be the famous
ironman
captain america
hulk
thor
the hidden ones at the moment will be
hawnkeye
quicksilver
wonderman
scarlet witch
miss marvel
vision
not confirmed: black widow, black panter
helper characters:
giant man (thanks to hq2x filter to make him bigger :P)
wasp
those helpers will apear in some stages and help players to smash everything

Not bad. I really liked the old Captain America and the Avengers as a kid. It looks super interesting. 960 x 540 resolution? Might be too big but it's alright. :) My laptop res is currently 1024 x 600. Almost reaching to my size. Since you're using the filters and increasing the resolution on your own, I wouldn't mind if you use that resolution. Great work so far. :cheers!: I'm looking forward to play your super awesome mod.

I really really wish to see a huge boss which fills half of screen ;D ;D. It's a waste to see huge screen only filled with small characters.

Hmmm.... looks good but the grab ability makes me wonder. In original game, there's no hug and knee enemy just grab, lift and toss enemy. I don't think you can have both so which one it would be?

for half screen bosses maybe galactus, apocalipse, onslaught first and second form, and the last boss from mvc2 in all forms those are the bigest i have in mind, plus some other robots like in cyberbots i wish to apply hq2x filter to make him bigger

I loved Cap & Avengers arcade, and I found it odd that until now, no one remade it with the newer MSH sprites. Really hope to see this through!

Is there any particular reason for this? Perhaps a technical limitation? I always found it strange that no one tried it before, either in a plataformer or supersmash type game..

i dont know, but i think psp, dingoo and mobile devices could not work in that resolution
i dont know for the dreamcast and wii too, maybe the limitation is to run only on the PC
i have tested this resolution in a 14" very old monitor and the game got some slowdown on fullscreen, but on windowed worked at normal speed so i think those are the limitations...
i have tested also on a big 40"tv and it was great :P

Cool this is how a comic book game should be done, huge sentinels just like the cartoon. I feel like i just woke up, Mugen creators helping the BOR community. When I last checked they hated BOR. but that was over 5 years ago. Oh how times have changed, I love the unity.

i have done all the screens to title select screen hi score and such
i also started to design the new lifebars positions and sizes... now im choosing some colors and tweaking positions for the HUD

This project looks great, but does that mean war of the gems is postponned ? I thought you wer eclose to having that game done but then you started this one. Keen for both of these games :) looking good

If you look closely, Hank still has a few pink outlines.

im still working on wargems, since those 2 project share the same core and this gameplay is the evolution of wargems many things i do in one project will work for the other
yes i notice the pink dots on hank, it is just a sprite test to see his size... in hq2x he achieve a smaller size than sentinel but without much blurry in game, and with hq4x he achieve the right size he should have but with blurry... so i think for him this blurry will stay :( but the pink dots will leave on the final sprites

today i did a lot of cool things
i finished the 4 helpers (only missing giantman)
added hercules and scarlet witch as helpers in the game
added a help speech on npcs when they achieve 1/4 of life
added a "XP" character in the fonts replacing the "-" character
i will try to create a persistent score system for each playable char, this score will work as a xp system that will give level to your character persistently... so how much you play with your favorite character more strong he will be, like happend on most recent beat em up games like scott pilgrim and castle crashers
i taked another snapshot of all 4 helpers plus 4 players in the screen to see how it will lookslike a multiplayer section of this game

Prolly, since that's not the Final Version Stage. I mean, what stage gives you 4 helpers? And it also seems too peaceful, no smoke, nor destruction/obstructions too.

yes, for this game i will have to add a lot of objects in the stage to give some life to this big dead space ehehhe
that's why all objects will be throw-able and pick-able like barrels, trees, stones, cars... but this time will be possible to walk carrying everything

this one i think will eats even more ram than the previous and plus the resolution does not will work on handhelds but maybe i can try a lite version too the wargems on last stage finish the game eating around 130mb ram
this one i think will run around 256... but i hope not... with less memory i spend more compatibility this game will have between ports
i did a test now and with only 3 types of enemies, 5 helpers and 5 playable characters the game uses 79mb of ram...
i dont know if is too many freespecials and follows that i use or what it is... but it always got too much memory

i finished to code shocker and wizard to be a midle boss... they A.I. are very close to klaw and livin laser on captain america and the avengers game...
i also changed the sentinel color to one with reminds more the giant robot of captain america and the avengers game too

i was thinking about living laser raf, why dont you use Pyron from Darkstalkers? he is very similar to Living laser.
Also those vision sprites...who made those they look really good
also i have been pretty bussy lately so i havent done the giant-man sprites yet. baron zemo is about to be finished tought he is like a 60% of the requiered sprites. missing get hits,specials and probably grab.
also i Do have the stance of Giant-man done would like to have it?

i was thinking in use pyron with hq2x filter and a pink color as a second form of klaw inside the vibranium mine,
and for giant man yes you can send it to me and i set his stand here
i found the vision stance on google and mixed with my old files from slotman and redid the palette color using the gif as base... but i could not found yet the sprite author... im still searching for him

Ah i think i know who the autor is of the stance is now i was checking the sprite database and i belive that´s Verz36 sprite Sounds Cool That you are using Pyron for Klaw´s Vibranium form.

yes i did
i already have coded the a.i.m soldiers, and the hydra soldiers
already coded another 3 bosses
just need to do only more 3 bosses and all bosses are ready, then i will jump to enemies and then the playable characters and all interactive objects

yea man this looks awesome just one thing i played your war of the jems mod... Let me tell you first that it was one of the best marvel mods i played the game play and look was great.. The one small problem i had with it was all the different sprite styles it really showed with the robots so i guess im saying in this one try to keep the styles of sprites the same :)

ok ehehe i will try to not spoil in this game as i did in the wargems
but i already finished to design all the story and the levels, (need to create them now heheh)
almost all bosses are already coded with very smart AI behaviors
and bla bla bla secrets for now :P

what ever happened to war of the gems, that project was awesome now its dead in exchange for this one ? should you have finished war of the gems since it was almost done before starting this one ?

to finish wargems i need create a cool end game, put the credits and create the gems and his power ups
i re did the thanos and now he have a better AI also using some gem powers on his attacks
i have fixed some bugs on wargems also, i work on both because everything that is fixed on wargems are automated fixed on this project too

since the resolution is bigger than most of openbor mods i need put more objects on the screen to make a better look
i need more sprites for objects anyone know where i can find a coke machine sprite and a bench?
i need put those 2 objects in this stage too, their will be throw able / bash able

That reminds me, Burning Fight has vending machines too.
As for bench, there are 2 games I remember:
- Punisher 2nd stage, right when game starts you can see some benches on edge of pool
- Violent Storm, in 1st stage after entering stations, there are some benches. I forgot if park stage has bench too or not.

There's also some benches on SOR2 on the park, the stage before facing Behelits.
Also on cap america and the avengers, o n the 1st stage. I'm not sure if the snes version has them, but the arcade already have them.

Some reason this is a hard thing to search for, but there's got to be some sprites out there.
Was looking around and found these thou, thought better post it in case you diddn't already have them, probably some stuff you can use.

on this last weekend i started to do some tests with scenes to intros and such things
since i am not an expert and have some laziness to do this kind of things (intros and such)
i tried to create one intro using microsoft power point and saved it as .wmv and then converted it to a .gif
how is the better way to create thoses intros? using the power point was very easy but i dont know if it is the best way...
