It appears that the pkunzip doesn't work in vista 64bit, I will see to getting a updated version or if anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Also, it seems that Dragon of Rage update doesn't work if you update from kingherbs original (where by I used Dragons of Rage(2009-07) ). I'll take a look at this and get it fixed asap.

Also, it seem that the game don't work on V2 of openBor anymore, so no xbox support. I think its gotta todo with the saving to file feature (which needs a relativity new version of openBor).

Thanx Hammertime for spotting these bugs out.

Oh sweet, I liked the old Asterix mod, but it was a mess. Can't wait to try the updated version.  :)

With all the collision box's fixed the game is alot less frustrating  ;D

Did a update to Dragons of Rage, this only makes it that the upgrade pack works with the original DoR (no changes).
Get it from the attachment. (will do a update to the download section later on)

Hatchet Ninjaz and AvP? Hell yeah! I was gonna make an update for Ninjaz myself some time ago but I can't get to it because my Portable hard drive stopped working.  >:(
Any, downloading, and I'm gonna Knights & Dragons to.

Man, Hatchet Ninjaz for me still got the coolest music and most awesome story so I had todo a few fix's and improvements.  ;)

As for AvP, It somehow didn't dawn on me that this was a demo, even though I did think it was a bit short and had a missing character but still its fun to doodle with  ;D

I've enjoyed the Knights & Dragons updates the most (I've spent alot of time on that though) as I did love the game plenty and even though the game is damn brilliant I just wanted to add my touch to it.
Let me know at what level you get to kill that Ancient Red Dragon. I've done up to level 14 (No Continue, cause of the player select bug) but no further yet.

Hope you guys like the updates. :cheers!:

Speaking of the difficulty level... How high can you set it and it will still make a difference or is there no limit at all (except the 30 seconds time limit which prevents further increasing)? Tested it with Dragons of Rage (where level 15 or so resulted in high damage) and Asterix (where even at level 25 the enemies didn't deal much damage). Which levels would you roughly speaking consider regular easy, normal, hard and very hard btw?

It appears that the pkunzip doesn't work in vista 64bit, I will see to getting a updated version or if anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Hm, I said Windows 7 64 Bit though it's likely it won't work with Vista (or XP) 64 Bit as well. However maybe it's not a 64 Bit- but a general Windows 7 problem and won't run with any version of Windows 7 (and maybe Vista as well). Which system you're running it with?
Couldn't find an newer/working version of that app btw.
Title: Re: Various Game Updates.
Post by: MatMan on January 10, 2012, 08:28:07 am
There is no limit as I don't use openBor difficulty setting, well it is limited at 4,294,967,295(Depending on openbor bit limit) but I rate you will never get there realistically  ;D.

The enemies won't ever do any extra damage (other than the 2% chance of enemy being spawn todo double damage) as the player never gets more max health. Although I have been considering adding a item that you get from bosses that would give you max health, mp etc bonus's with some of the games but I will look into it.

Quote

There isn't a flat level I could mention as each game uses a a custom difficulty setting. The main idea is that you can play the game a couple of times or just the first stage to find a difficulty that you feel comfortable with and every now and then you can up it a couple of difficulties to make it more challenging to yourself. I realize that people in general hate self regulating game difficulties but I don't, so for those that do like it, its there to work with.

I got myself a brand new 3.2 g dual xeon machine with 4gb memory two days ago so I will be mutli os'ing it and should be able to do some testing but for now my main os is winXP.

The command will be " 7za.exe x ZipFile.zip "

Oh, I didn't know there was a command line version of 7zip, too. Works flawlessly as expected.

Yo Matman. I played Hatchet Ninjaz with your update. I see you added the difficulty torches but what do they effect for the game? The A.I.'s power to aggression? I'd like to use the same thing in my Sega Brawlers Mod in the hub stages.

Also, while playing with Killa Kat and Kinny pete(Guy), I couldn't perform their F,F,A freespecials, and I tried other known methods, D,F,A  U,F,A  D,U,A  Nothing worked. What id you do to them man?

Pretty much, there is always a chance of a really extra tough character being spawned aswell.

Edit....
Also, about every 6 (depending on the mod) levels of difficulty the enemies health increases.

I posted a semi how to Here (http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php/topic,5538.msg86458.html#msg86458) but I still want to do a nice easy do it yourself zip somewhere along the line.

The version I had only had one freespecial move for all characters (I moved that to A2). If there was another version with more freespecials then please post a link.

first of all, good work matman, i personally didn't like so much transparencies, i like the '90 feeling of the arcades (no transparencies in those ancient times  ;D ) but an excellent work in the difficulty select. :cheers!:

anyway, what bug are you talking about? maybe you refer to the allowselect and skipselect? i didn't tested yet this new upgrade

first of all, good work matman,
Thanx but the bulk of the credit go's to you for making a freaking great game.

Quote
an excellent work in the difficulty select.
I also did very subtle things to the ai but it is really only noticable when you got the difficulty set to higher levels (6+). For instance fighting the first boss you'll notice him jump backing into the stage when he go's off screen (like the original version).

Quote
anyway, what bug are you talking about?
The one when you die then you can't select a player. What I did was to remove skipselect and only used allowselect but the problem is that when you finish the game then you can select all the characters. What I do like about it, is that it give the game more re-playability but what I've been thinking of doing scripting so that only when you finish a specific route then a character would be selectable when playing again. So if you kill the ancient red dragon then arthur would be playable etc....

Quote
i didn't tested yet this new upgrade
Give it a go, there is alot of subtle changes besides the obvious difficulty changer, don't forget about the quick shot which has been added to all characters.

I have 2 question of VGU(Various Game Updates).

1. Have you plan to add new chars in VGU?
2. Have you plan to add new moves in players & enemies from VGU?
Title: Re: Various Game Updates.

Asterix update makes game crash in middle of first stage.

Rage of wolves update is cool though the trailz effect is off putting, also the transparant enemy effect beacuse it makes the enemy your interacting with transparent, if someone hits me they are transparent or if i hit them, even the barrels in first stage that hit me beacome transparent as they hit me.

I didnt play Hatchet Ninjaz much but the Sagat character cant run, he does this weird and slow walk, couldnt that be fixed ?

Don't have any plans at the moment but I might in the near future. I've have been itching to add weapons to the Knights game as the script to it would be easy.

Will look into it. did you convert it with the ogg or the regular?? I didn't test the ogg yet so it might be that.

Quote

Just noticed that the trailz ain't being generated with a alpha pallete, will fix that.

Quote
also the transparant enemy effect beacuse it makes the enemy your interacting with transparent
Will need to update the effect to be activated at a better distance.

He doesn't have a run animaton and I dont think he is suppose to have one, he is a big slow character.

Just tried and tested, worked fine with me (and I re-downloaded the original from this site). What version of the exe are you using and what does the log say?

Found the crash problem.

I included a to old version of openBor in the zip file "OpenBOR v3.0 Build 3476", you need to use at least "OpenBOR v3.0 Build 3609" onwards. Will include a newer version on next release.

This was made using a PSP slim model 3000 using CFW 6.60 ProB10 fix1, OpenBor v3.0 Build 3707 and using the modified pak of KD using the Ogg option. It is important to point out that the unmodified pak loads without a problem.
I tried using the modified Asterix mod, yet it crashes at the first load as well. Any suggestions? The updates do seem interesting to try... :)

But why do you unlock all the characters at the begining ?
That is a mistake and will be fixed (hopefully soon)

I found 2 other bugs :
- On the boat when we have win the thief, if we die we will rise near a matte and we can't move :( we must abort the game :(
- When we kill the Minotaure, now you fix the game, the script is very long to say us we must fight it again, it is so strange and we can walk 15s :p
Will look into it thanx.

Are these updated games no longer compatible with the PSP?
They shouldn't, cause nothing major has changed that would cause more memory usage or unknown functionality. However I have not tested these updates with the latest "OpenBoR v3.0 Build 3707" and I know the attached bor version I included was a incorrect version (still need to update). The version I used without error is "OpenBOR v3.0 3672", try and download it from the attachment.

Thnaks a lot :D
For the boat bug, i think just change the wall will correct it ;)

And when you have time, it is real that put difficulty select in menu can be better than in game ...
And now with the new script to skip menu it can help you ?

Hello there! I had the chance to do another test using the Asterix updated mod using the OpenBor version that was included in your reply (with & without using the ogg option) and they both crash on the start-up load, while the original pack works without any problems.

Here are the error logs from the asterix mod, the first one has the ogg option included and the second one does not:

An other thing i forgot if possible ... in K&D Final Cut, there is a timing before die ... but we can't see it any where ?
If possible to shop it, it can be better :p

For help too, when you unlock an character in K&D, like the Thief, the game give you choice to change character ... and then it as lock all the characters like it must be without the one you have win :D
We can say the bug who unlock all characters is only when we start the game the first time.

Yes I have. I've worked on two others but are not complete yet but golden axe myth (good game) is a security protected game so I won't do any work on that at all.

Sheesh. I didn't know that Garou mod was created by Ikaruga. Ain't he the guy who did the Double Dragon NG mod?

I wanted to report that when Updated with your patch and ran on both the OpenBOR 3706 and the latest builds, Knights & Dragons - The Endless Quest v2 presents an issue that causes the game to crash whenever you succesfully block an attack.
