...What do you mean? Young Geese IS in the mod ;)...You need to find him 1st I think...I bet no one has tried the 3 players mode then and look for the extra characters...which guide you to...extra stages.
Ryo has his run attack in the bikes stages? that's kind of funny, since that didn't happen before using 2.xx, I'll fix that whenever I can I think...Kind of impossible for now...Anyways, the Remixed version consist in new music for the mod, it'll be up in a few days.
Thanks about your comments, and, you need to get the extra characters to watch the real ending and stuff :) there're plenty of special moves to try as well, like the hyper specials.

I played the game tonight and i can just say that it is a very very good one again...! WELL DONE.
The game is dynamic, intense, never boring, will a lot of very interesting ideas, good stages, a lot of special moves for playable chars, it is a very pleasure to play this MOD. As we all know it, you are a great modder...

Me too. But my brother did. I saw him beating Mr. Karate and even the cutscenes. Ryo and Robert were about to beat Mr. Karate but then, Yuri stopped them from killing him. She revealed that Mr. Karate is their father. In the end, it says "To Be Continued". Also, I never played parts 2 and 3 in fighting style.
I'll try to download tonight.

Mr.Q!! This mod rocks. I like the way you used the openbor effect to create dark stages. I'm going to have to show this to my finance. Especially that Yuri is unlocked. This screen shot reminds me of the cover to "Forced Vengeance" by Mr. Chuck Norris.

Not quite, as I recall it. She said "Stop it, Ryo, that man is our..." before the "to be continued" message appeared. As far as I know it was never explicitly revealed that Mr. Karate is Yuri and Ryo's father, Takuma Sakazaki, until in a later game (AOF2 maybe?).

The intro to AOF 2 states that Takumi is their father. The SNES version of AOF had an actual ending that went into this too, but oddly enough AOF 2 came out months before the 16 bit ports of AOF. As for the mod itself, you've managed to outdo yourself once again, Mr. Q. It's challenging, has an excellent move list, and just oozes quality from start to finish. Art of Fighting is a game that never really did get the respect that it deserves, but you more than managed to do it justice. :)

Yeah, i had the same problem. Just set display mode to "Full", and video mode and filters to "Disabled". It looks like the optimal option for fullscreen playing.

Also trouble is - too many enemies spam different things, when wake.
The only way to hit them - step far aside from liying enemy and strike with projectile, when he wakes with the hit! But this process is little bit boring.
Is there any other way?

I have a problem! When i finish the game in Extra mode and come back to play, the game tells me the F. F. open at play and I ask you choose another character. See a white screen with the logo of the Fatal Fury and the game closes itself!

3 Load game did select and was 3 with players extra mode had been cleared The character of fatal fury disappeared when players extra mode was done in start and window of openbor disappeared after movie that unlock is done had been displayed. Please correct Mr.Q and this bug. :praying:

well, yeah - the same problem. The game crashes after fatal fury character-select screen appears. Openbor just closing.

Ok i played this today while after playing some arcades which i beat 2 and all i can say i am impressed with this mod. It has the great standards in gaming. Great bgs and levels and gameplay so nice job there Mr.Q. Once again your mods are truly remarkable ive always loved them.

Now, about getting the extra characters not loaded after the FF character selection screen. I think this could be easily solved by adding the 'load' value in the models.txt instead of 'know'... but that would unlock them forever.
what i mean is, if you get into the 1st stage and then exit the game, you could still select them in the very 1st select screen in the 3 players mode, which kills the purpose of unlocking them...The best solution I think would be replacing the very 1st char select screen with a custom one, which is currently not supported...maybe with script, but who knows, I don't use script just 'cause i don't know about it, never had the time to learn about it.
So, for the ones that want to try the extra characters and the extra missions, just do that until a real solution comes by.

I don't understand. :hmm: I have problem with loading Fatal Fury team. I don't know how I can do this.
EDIT: I forgot that I played Yuri in 3 player mode in the final level. I ran to Takuma and then credits rolled. That's it. Next, I went to the saved one again but then FF selection and crash.

AAA presentation all the way! This game made me feel very nostalgic, it was like I was kid again enjoying AOF for the very first time. Some really fancy graphical effects, whoa!
Sounds, gameplay and music were great. I wish I had 5 hands so I could give this game 5, 5 thumbs up!
I think Andy is my fav chara, it is really something special when you pull off a HSDM, It is so cool I feel very badass when I get it right.
Only things I might have changed would have been a longer life bar, game can be pretty challenging sometimes and maybe some easier input motions for the non-hardcore, I worry that we may alienate casual beat em up fans? Still these are very minor things, very, very cool game, thanks very much Mr Q you did it again, I'll be playing this one for a while.
Just one last thing?Spoilerwhen you fight geese, are there two different types of battles or only one? The fight was over in a flash, it stays true to the AOF/KOF storyline, but I still wanted to kick his ***, ah maybe next game?

I thought it is Dragons Of Rage 2. The board and obstacle show the game on AOF-BORR mod. Good Luck on your next work.

Don't be afraid lol, it's just a self extracting Winrar created exe, i did this just incase people did'nt have winrar etc.
Septor the difference is just the music in my version, it's more similar to the original Beats of Rage soundtrack in style, using Techno/Psytrance style tracks.

Ok i'll look into it, it seems i may have forgot to remove the unload commands in the original level texts, the remixed version should work fine.

I have tested this and it did error once but after that worked the next time so its a little hit and miss, give it a try and see how it goes for you, the main problem is that select.txt doesnt seem to be working correctly because its not hiding the characters you dont include so you cant just have playables as load in the models.txt. If this doesnt work for you then we will have wait for another solution such as script/code fix or other workaround.

thanks for the info guys - btw, it doesn't seem to be a designated kick button or anyway to jump when you grab someone (piledriver ala final fight). Seems like there is one button to punch and that is it. Am I missing something?

Okay I've played it and beat it tryed the fatal fury char and it say unable to load terry! :eek:
But then when I tried the one KingHerb original mod fix it all fine and dandy thanks for the fix. ;)

It is another bug report. Fatal furys became error by stage 2 new route army docks after unlock had been done.
In the cause, the name part of boss of spawn and "Micky" was "Micky2. "Again thank you very much for fix though the Mr.Q time is spent. :praying:

Me too. I found it says "Micky2". I made a "shortcut" last night and made a copy of the original with creating new folders such as data itself in order for me to figure out how to fix. I named a copy as "BOR" and I leave out the original just for me to wait for the fixed version to come up. Now I'm stuck with error "Micky2".
I forgot to say that I play in this kind without using FF chars. :laughing:

Take a look at my Stats app, this type of problem was exactly why I wrote it. With projects as complex and big as these its easy to miss something.

I just finished the game completely and I tried to defeat Geese and he used Raging Storm at me. And then, it went to the ending. I was gonna defeat him to the end but couldn't. It went to the end. :doh!: Is there a 'branch' set in it? It looks like it might be. :oops: Are there different endings or do the results come to only one ending?

uffff :nervous: another scary with this game... (night slashers x are the one because dont works for me) the art of fighting not works with your openbor included in the rar...
but happily works perfectly with the openbor in the downloads section.

In Story mode, the characters are auto selected; player 1 is Ryo, player 2 is Robert.
Also, please stop attaching images to every post. It clogs the server and makes the forum look childish. If you want to have an image showing like that all the time, put in in your signature and enclose it with spoiler tags.

Someone has to make the final true? Fought against Geese? How you do that? I finished the Story mode with Ryo, then finished the event 3 extra with Yuri and Andy again and nothing extra.

...And thanks agin for your comments about the mod. I've seen some bugs and stuff, i'll upload a new version soon...I will not change the move imputs I think.
There're 3 endings in this mod:
1.- the story mode one
2.- finding karate and not fighting him in 3 players mode
3.- geese escaping in 3 players mode
there's no dying geese in this mod...If you've played true AoF2, Geese can't be trully defeated, and he manages to escape, although he never does that brutal raging storm...
For finding the FFury characters just play the 3players mod, and in stage 1-1, after finishing every single enemy, do not take the red arrow, and just go back to the beginning of the stage, that simple, heh.
I'll try to fix these things as soon as I can and re-upload, even if that means unlocking the FFury chars by just finishing the mod.

1 - Is the Biker Jack just defeated while knockdown, or you want him to proceed fighting after knockdown from motorcycle? Or you want Jack to keep riding motorcycle until his health is run out?
2 - The John2 is not needed because his dialog is spawn in the stage.
3 - The Micky2 is needed his dialog is spawn from his anim spawn.
4 - The grenade and the explosive drum does not burn the victims.
5 - King's anim burn does not loop.
6 - The 2pspawn/3pspawn should work like this:

Well, I created a new text file for micky and copied everything from his text and put in the new text. I pasted it in and removed 'dmicky' and I named him to Micky2. Even the text file with the same name. I did that last weekend. :eyebrow_action:
For FF char selection, I ruined it. I deleted 'allowselect' in menu2.txt. :oops: Not on the original but the copy (with name 'bor'.

I'm in currently uploading a fixed version with all the stuff MCW mentioned a few hours ago, check my site in an hour or tuesday morning for getting the v1.2.
No need for a hack to get the FF chars anymore, just get them the way it suppoused to be, like I said before.
PD: The easter egg I mentioned on the disco stage is hitting Duck King on a proper frame of one of his anims, and the stage music will change.

I supposed that cant 2 played with robert in the player, as in the beginning of my game "Angel-0" in which beginning playing with my character without being able to compete for that of K-xan up to the stage 4. But my problem was that im playing was in the PSP in which not tape-worm the option to occupy the player 2. :eyebrow_action:

You can't hange your controls on PSP? on PC, I just give Player 2 the same controls as player 1, but change the start button to something else.

1.- Andy not having a running attack: that was on purpose...He's a rusher, no need for sth that knocks down.
2.- Andy's B B - A attack ha sthe same purpose.
3.- You're right, I might add that effect, check the 1st post on wendsday for v1.2

Yes, you are right. Just remove 1 from the load character.
My condition is a bit different. I change the FF team into the question mark that provided in your mod. The beginning stage does not load them.
After you touch it, same thing go to the true story but added a stage with FF team loaded and the question mark pop up, then the FF team appear.
I have set the unlock scene as noskip.

Jack is intentionally having that health I put on him, so that's just you making him hanging for longer time.

MCW BTW...How did you notice that burn animation thing? Was it while adding burn values for Andy's Hyper move? 'cause if that's the reason, I'm not fixing it, since it's not sth I made in my original mod, you know, adding the burn value.

No, the burn animation thing is notice while I use Terry to perform his hyper move which burn enemy at the final hit and the added drum explosion to burn the enemy.
I use drawmethod to fix the burn animation to default colour only.
Is easier to notice this while the screen size is 2x.

You need equalairpause 1 in the levels.txt so Ryo and Robert will not freeze in mid air while perform freespecial [f d j] to hit multiple enemies.

No problem, that depend on you.
If you want Biker Jack to drop from motorcycle and stand up again, use load jack2, spawnframe in the anim death of biker Jack.

You have to unlock 3 Players Extra Mode, there are difference at the 1st stage between Story mode and Extra mode, you can find it out easily.

Excellent mod here Mr. Q!
I always liked to play as the kyokugen karate crew in the AOF/KOF series. The attacks and freespecials feel natural in this game. The special attacks have inputs that are almost intuitive for someone who has played as these characters on other games. Motorcycle levels were sweet as well. zanretsuken FTW!

good work man!, i like the helicopters, the bikes stages and of course the game :cheers!:, but sadly after pass the game for second time, and when i go to start 3rd play for can use the secrets chars, then the games crashes and exit.
but don't worry, i donwload the game now from your website in the 1st page like other guy say in here.

have you think in put the ost of the game (original and alternate) like other makers do?
can be cool have the mp3 of some music, in special i like much the Yuri aof2 stage music in the gym ;D
and only one bad thing, i know I'm not very fast in special moves in some games, this cause i cant do the special moves all the times, so i think can be cool if you can perform special moves a little more slow. not too much only a little more slow (if you like the idea).
i say this because i have problems to perform the haohken super death blow, and i fails a lot for can do the attack correctly.
trust me I'm really good with games, but i always know that i don't have too much speed for make these styles of moves :blushing:

My personal opinion about modding for noobs would be to take a existing game and fix/mod/change and what ever you want with it till you get used to the openBor system. I think that trying to start a new game when just entering the arena is the worst thing you can do to yourself as there is ALOT of work involved.
I know cause i tried doing that and I landed up doing really dumn and inexperienced things and alot of the time I did them the long and hard way and I still got loads to learn.
So I eventually landed up doing something as simple as just fixing the attack box's in the Dragons of Rage game plus a few other small things and that simple exercise taught me alot.
So i'd say that you taking the correct route phemt. Have fun :cheers!:

I've downloaded it from Mr. Q site and when i try to boot it with the BOR included, it shows a message about incorrect cofiguration...
I've also tried the OpenBOR_v3.0_Build_2322_SecurePAK_Edition and the OpenBOR_v3.0_2324.
The message is, obviously, the same.
Nowadays i am using the OpenBOR_v2.1933 that doesn't has problems running the other mods here.
Which one are you using to make it work properly guys?

Those video problems you have, just go into options and mess around with the video options & modes.

The only version running your AOF on my pc is the 2.(put some numbers) and it crashes frequently.
Thanks for the suggestion about the video output! Enabling the filters solved that issue. ;D

I adore some enemies like Lee and John, but they have an unseen new graphic style for me, did you edited them all by yourself? Maybe they are from a game i haven't seen yet...
The second special touch is the two version of the shippuukyaku, really the cherry upon a cake (we use to say so in italy ;D)
But i don't understand why the haohshokoken stop before the first collision, it doesn't make any sense for me. I mean for coherence's sake it should go through any enemy contuing to harm adversaries on the same line...

I see. Well I'm not updating anymore, and I'm not using blank anims anymore in any of my mods, in order to prevent that thing for weapon models.

The game is Kizuna Encounter, I don't know the name of the song, I just found it and then I liked it instantly, It's just soooo good'ol SNK, not like the emo $h1t that it has become these days.

Not sure this is exactly the one I was looking for but it sounds pretty good nonetheless. Totally agree about music nowadays. Thanks. The track I'm referring to is actually called "ex43" in you mod. Sorry for not being clearer but I'm going to check this game to see if it's from it.

Hmm I don't know really, it seems you're the only one getting that error, are you using and old engine build? Or maybe the latest one? I always attach the proper build to my mods, so I can't help, maybe the script guys can gve you a hand...Script is so random sometimes, I always use already tested, small ones, so dunno what to say.

I think ned is using wrong version. He's using the one build at February, while the one included with this mod is build at May, this year.

I have the fixed remixed version but the original I have is not working. I'll be downloading the original soon and replace the original songs with the remixed ones for upload. When I go to your website to download the Art of Fighting remix game, I click on the download link and then it takes me to the rapidshare upload menu WHERE IS THE DOWNLOAD LINK THAT YOU HAVE MENTIONED!

Masterderico uploaded a PSP version some time ago (see earlier in this thread) but it appears to have been removed since. The mod isn't currently available from our repository. However, I have both versions of the mod (original music and remixed music) and can upload them if the need arises.

I already fixed the remixed version of it, but I have a problem in fixing the original. I tried to follow the same fixes from the remix for the original but couldn't. I heard Phemt uploaded the SPK version which I don't like. I want only a Pak version.

Man, this is a quality mod indeed! Complex yet fun gameplay, plenty of techniques & awesome extras! It is the kind of game that the Art of Fighting franchise deserved but never got! Awesome! :cheers!:

This mod is a beast, but I'm also getting the same problem as firm999 were the game hangs when i'm killed by explosives that leave me in the burning animation forever :(
I'm using the latest OpenBor build and tried some random older ones but all with the same outcome, anyone know which exact one I should be looking for?
Other than that, mods awesome when i can get through them specific parts without dying :D

It's ok though I still enjoy the mod regardless as I've been getting pretty good at not dying on them parts :P
If any way comes up to download much older Openbor builds I'd be happy to know about it, make no mistake though I'm not complaining at all I still really enjoy it!

GREAT GAME! i loved the special moves and supers, but playing with Robert and finishing the first level the game CRASH always. I'm using the last Openbor Build.

I think the build for AOF mod is 2322. That version came along with it a long time ago after its release. (You can get to download this version in my sig but it's going to direct you a link to another thread in here.)

The burn animation is if you get hit with a knockdown burn attack. Bpain is for non knockdown burn attacks. With the engine version the game was made for, the burn would end when they hit the ground so you could have it set to loop so they would burn until they hit the ground. In newer engine releases the looped fall makes them stay in the fall animation. There was no bbox on burning people so they could not be knocked into a different animation. They enemy stayed in a looped animation and could not be killed so you could not progress in the level.

You can add dropframe and landframe to fall animation, also you could add death animation for the burning on the ground part, then just add falldie 2.
falldie {value} or death {value}
2 = Fall first then play DEATH animation.

So the problem was is was infinite in the new engines.
I'havn't played this mod with newer engines.

Hello everyone, I can take a doubt about this mod:
I tested it on my PSP Slim, all right, but three players in the way, after I finished the game with Robert, a new screen appeared saying that I could choose the characters fatal fury, but gave a blue screen and failed to play with Terry, Andy and Joe.

eu testei ele em meu psp Slim, tudo certo, mas no modo 3 players , depois que eu terminei o jogo com o Robert, apareceu uma nova tela dizendo que eu poderia escolher o personagens fatal fury, porém deu uma tela azul e não deu pra jogar com Terry, Andy ou Joe.

I downloaded this today and im curious to know if this is a full game or demo, simply because at the end of stage 2 when battling the bikers that throw knives and bombs, after their defeat the game goes to credits.....is there something im missing here??

That means there's a crash. Can you check the log in logs folder and attach it here? we can figure out the cause with that file.

MatMan, are you sure that Hammertime fixed that AOF mod? I secretly fixed both AOF original and remix versions probably except the problem on Mr. Big's fall animation on bbox for Robert's full level hyper.

if you got the working version then please do a upload to the altered section (include a exe) and I'll remove the hammertime uploads or can you send me the fix's (just the text) and I'll do a upload. I rate it be a good idea to have a working copy here.

I guess. But I fixed them 3 years ago (a couple months after Mr. Q released these), so to speak. I have not checked any since. Also, I didn't bother fixing the burn anim on each enemy for one of Andy's specials and the bbox for Mr. Big's fall anim for Robert's full super move. I even didn't ask Mr. Q for permission on hacking it. I remember MCW pointing out to Mr. Q that the enemy doesn't have a burn animation for Andy's special, so he had to fix it. I think there is a blog of Mr. Q's that he re-released his AOF mod(s), but I'm not really sure if they're fixed. I'd like to know if Mr. Q fixed everything up. Now that you'd like me to upload, I could go back to making changes but I don't know for Mr. Q though.
I am not quite sure if Hammertime fixed it/them.

A openBor.exe that fully works on the game.
I think its becoming bad practice to release just a pak file. It wasn't such a big deal before but with alot of scripting and other changes it appears the newer versions of openBor are becoming less and less compatible with older games.
I don't think there is anyone here who wants to actively search for a specific exe just for a single game and whats worse is that you can't really get any of the old openBor.exe's anymore (without way to much effort).

Now the OpenBOR engine works fine, and guys can script to improve they're games ... why there is no RETRO compatibility ?
An old EXE can't understand news scripts and make them works ... but a new EXE normally know the old scripts ...

I played the whole game using the same build in Rocket Viper v2.4 and it worked completely fine.

About the fix "I made"... it wasn't me :> it's the one made by becker. For some reason I forgot to mention that in my upload (http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=222) (sorry about that and changed now btw), maybe I thought these changes were done by the original author of the mod, Mr. Q, and maybe that's also the reason why I might only have checked the Completed - but not the Altered - section before uploading it and thus missed that becker had already uploaded his altered version here (http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=190) (exactly the same version as the one I uploaded some weeks later). One the other hand I can't imagine where else than from becker's upload I could have downloaded this in first place so it seems even more silly that I've uploaded this afterwards.
However, since I've also uploaded Mr. Q's original version I'll try to get an old OpenBOR - version from that time and add it to that upload.
Edit: The oldest BOR - version I've found here was v3.0 Build 2656 which doesn't work, character still gets burnt forever if it catches fire so I suggest to either try an even older version (maybe there can be find one which comes with another game) or just play the version with becker's changes. Or someone might upload an appropriate OpenBOR - version which I could add to the original (and the Remixed) version.

You can solve that by setting loop 0 instead of loop 1 on the burn animation

That's not good solution Goliath, the modder set loop 1 in burn animation so it loops.
The correct way is to set proper loop, add extra frame for fallen state and add landframe. This way, the looping effect will play as designed and when landed, the looping ends.

Also that's (besides some other minor changes) what becker had already done.
It's about adding an appropriate OpenBOR - build to the uploads of the original versions (and maybe also upload another version with a change like Bloodbane has suggested to make it work flawlessly with recent OpenBOR builds without losing anything, otherwise no need to do something twice).

I meant the Build number or version of OpenBOR. But, it's okay. Never mind about it. I think I will PM you about the fix. But I'm not sure if I would because I don't know which build I would use. Otherwise, I'd do it myself. I find that becker's fixes are similar to mine except for the changes for the bboxes and aboxes. I don't know what becker made changes on them though.
