You have 6 gig of ram but don't you have to be running a 64 bit OS not a 32? I thought that was the case, the specs you posted said you were running a 32 bit os, a typo?

While I did notice an improvement in performance , Vista didn't report the correct amount of RAM I had. Service pack 1 fixed that.

A neighbour did suggest that I may aswell be using 64 bit now , so it might be the next logical step.....

My mobo actually supports a maximum of 8gb of RAM.

Yeah I've done the PC build for some time now. Last year I did a budget build PC with a 3 gig dual core CPU a 680i board from XFX and 2 7400's SLI'd This year those dinosaurs are getting the boot in favor of a 9800+ oc from BFG so I'm looking forward to that other than that and maybe a new case and a quad core extreme 3.2 at some point I'm very happy with my rig.

Regarding the Solid state drives I would recommend holding off until they become more affordable. You can mach they're speeds with a 9600 rpm hard drive for a lot less $ IMO.

Too late as I already over paid for a solid state drive. And they are faster on read speeds and just equal on write speeds.

Here are my specs:

Spoiler
System
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
  Model GA-EX58-UD5
Total amount of system memory 12.00 GB RAM
System type 64-bit operating system Windows Vista Ultimate
  Number of processor cores 4
  64-bit capable Yes

Storage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total size of hard disk(s) 380 GB
Disk partition (C:) Intel x25 Solid State Drive (80 GB Total)
  Media drive (D:) LG Black 6X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 6X Blu-ray DVD-ROM
Disk partition (E:)  Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (300 GB Total)

Graphics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Display adapter type ATI SAPPHIRE 100251SR Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit
  DirectX version DirectX 10
  Hannspree - 27.5" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HD Monitor 1920 x 1200

There you have it. This thing better last me at least 3 - 4 years. The only thing I may do in a year and a half or so is add another video card to do crossfire.

EDIT: Drivers updated and I jumped from a 1.0 to the 5.9 I was expecting.

I really like using the solid state drive as it is silent. The whole pc is very quiet and fast.  I am still installing software then I am going to benchmark it.
