While waiting, why don't you gather sprites from Castlevania and Contra series? you can edit them later.

That's been a ongoing process. That's why I want to enlist some more spriters. I want to see what some other people can come up with as well! The more originality the better!

Speaking of which Bloodbane would you like to contribute something to my mod? I know you were mentioning something earlier..

Yes I would like to contribute something to your mod. Since there's no sprite to to work with, I work on nothing.
The latest I did was modifying Pierwolf's Castlevania demo. Wanna take a look?

Vamprobotector: Ricital Of Blood - Track: "Jungle Killer"
« Reply #62 on: July 14, 2009, 05:19:12 pm »
Well, the cd album cover art is official done! All that is left is to include the font and text for the tracklist to be included on the back of the cd. It will be called: Vamprobotector: Ricital Of Blood

Thank you for everyone's support!

It's been a little while since my last post, I just want everyone to know that the project is alive and kicking and we've been working extremely hard to bring out a high quality project! The main character sprites are nearly completely done and been tested and look great in BoR! The CD album printed artwork is amazing and we are going on 15 fully completely tracks at the moment. I have a looooong labor day holiday so hopefully I can finish up some things for my next post that I think the fans will love!

If you are still interested. We could always use new sprites, however we opted to go more Rondo of Blood style than Aria of Sorrow sprites.

No %'s please. At least not yet. Still a waaay to go, but hopefully will have some vids to show coming soon. ALOT of custom stuff is being done, we are essentially building a whole new game!

As for the tracks, you haven't heard anything yet! In case you didn't know, the Vamprobotector OST is a fusion of Castlevania/Contra music combined! Yes, that's "fusion" of the Dragonball type!

I already got its fusion - old school castlevania metal-style music at first and then it comes to contra theme. That really rocks. I'm a big fan of Castlevania and contra, so 2 games in one is just a dream for me. Good luck with your project - will be waiting for its release. :)

I'm imagining you still need enemies, among other things.
but im confused. Aria of Sorrow is the GBA game. the sprites are smaller, and a bit cartoony.
Dawn of Sorrow is the DS game. The sprites ARE in the rondo style, its just the outfits and whatnot that have been updated to a more modern look.
Are you saying you want the chars to be DRESSED in the old style with Richter as the base? ???
if so, what time period is the game taking place in?
If it's the future, then the enemies should look the part.
if it's in the past thats cool too. I can make the enemies look more "steampunk" in style.
Let me know what you need here, and i'll send it too you via PM. that way we don't give up any surprises.

You got me there. I meant Dawn of Sorrow. DOS went more anime styled to capture a new broader audience for Castlevania. It was not the like the traditional gothic style like some previous Castlevania's. I particuarly enjoyed the art styles of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night the best. But I guess it might not matter once you convert sprites to BoR mode anyways. I've seen some sprites used in mods that I thought would look terrible ingame look great in BoR.

I am still working out the actual plot and timeline to fit in both the Castlevania and Contra universes. But the plot will mirror Marvel's Tomb of Dracula, where Dracula travels through time via an echanted mirror. Think Castlevania meets MadMax if that helps.

Those look pretty damn good. I say the second is best just for the "character" of it.

Thanks, actually it's the same lifebar! The first GIF with the bubble is how it may turn out. Debating to leave them reddish tone with the bubbles (kinda like a bunsen burner) or with the whole techno color change going on? (I think it may distract the player when fighting bosses because you would always want to look at it.) What do you guys think?
