*UPDATE*

Our site is offline because of an attack by hackers in December last year, the link above won't work anymore. Download the game from here:

How to mod:
1 Pick an interesting game: There are plenty of 8-bit/16-bit classics waiting for a remake
2 Rip your own sprites & stages
3 Use a custom palette: http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/tutorial.htm
4 Check your offsets: http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?topic=1099.0

Did you know?
Using void main()
{
playgif("data/my.gif", 0, -4, 1);
}

as spawnscript streams a GIF anim instead of loading it

Not too much has changed since the last release, mostly RAM related changes have been reverted:

Quote
-Changes- [2007/06/15]
* Now using OpenBoR v2.0051 featuring Sprite Database Management
  (deletes duplicated sprites and thus reducing the needed RAM)
* Bub the Zombie is back as a playable character
* All changes to the playable characters have been reverted
* All changes to the enemies' anim pain, spain, grabbed and bpain have been reverted
* Most sound effects are back in full 22khz glory. RAM usage statistics updated accordingly (see below)
* Laser Traps won't kill you instantly anymore

-Multiplayer related changes- [2007/06/15]
* Number of players set to 4
* Position of lifebars have been adjusted
* Players can't hit each other anymore
* Players can't use the same character anymore
* Players don't share credits anymore (should make the game a bit easier)

...well, and I made a new menu for the game mode selection and threw in the Battletoads demo too :)

Well, this mod was already perfect in my opinion. (Why you left us bWWd :'()
Let's see if the gameplay has improved with the addiction of two players more. :cheers!:

Probably. I've mentioned this elsewhere but I know him from the M.U.G.E.N scene. He started a project with many groundbreaking features (MKMugen) then handed it over to a new team and dissapeared. He unfortunately doesn't stay in a scene for very long..

Nice work on the update , Chris , I'm sure many people will apreciate the work you do.

That sucks. Imagine what he could do with the tools we have now. And coming from MUGEN, he'd have a scripting background too.

Well, this mod was already perfect in my opinion.

Hehe, I haven't really modified the game itself, and my intention has not been to make it 'more perfect' or something. My previous edit aimed at optimizing it for the hardware by reducing the RAM consumption to lower the loading and fixing some other minor problems (Zombie mode's slowdowns and cutscenes being transparent).

The cuts made to the mod to lower the RAM consumption have been reverted in this new release since OpenBoR has Sprite Database Management (since v2.0051) which takes care of everything I changed.

For this release I chose my edit as a base instead of the original, because bWWd used the same sounds for a lot of characters but loaded them from each character's folder rather of linking to the same files, e.g. in /data/sounds/. So instead of checking and removing all duplicated sounds again (which took me like forever), I just reverted all the changes made to the characters' TXT files by copy+pasting the original unmodified animations.

Let's see if the gameplay has improved with the addiction of two players more. :cheers!:

It's some great fun! :)

However, I noticed I've forgot to set the proper spawn positions for player 3 and 4, so sometimes they will spawn outside of the playable/visible area - gotta fix that :-X

Nice. What game were those zombie sprites from? Or were they an original creation?
