Color correction tutorial
« on: February 25, 2011, 08:50:56 am »
I would like to introduce you to a tutorial on color correction. Moreover, this method can be improved and be used for any purpose. It is for Photoshop using (any version).

But first I want to say why I am writing it ...
It is often possible to see MOD in which the colors of the character, environment, background differ (the character is lighter background).
This can be very simple to fix without re-drawing all the sprites. Just create a new color palette and apply it to the entity only by one command.

Just want to apologize that the text of the program in my native language, but I'll try to explain what to do)

Here's an example:

To begin open the image in Photoshop.

In order to better evaluate the brightness and color of the object we want it to be on a black background. To do this, select [image]-[mode]-[color table]

You will see your color palete.

Your background transparent color is always in upper left corner. Click on him (here - green) and select black. Click Ok:
You`ll got this:

So, you see that black is easier to assess the palette.
Now the next and most important step.
Choose [image]-[adjustments]-[replace color].

Now you can click on color that you want change and set your parameters.
Here is alternate screenshot in english:

So, you can experiment with lightness, saturation, and hue (fuzziness is for selecting color range).

For my mod i only select darkest area and change lightness. Here i`w got:

And thats all. The only thing you need is to press ctrl+alt+s and save this image in your object folder as Map01 for example. After that in header of your object code insert this:

palette   data/chars/your player/map01.
I get this:

You see, it is much better than original palete.

You can experiment and get something like this:

Thank you. Good luck ;)
