It would be very weird and cool if sega would be OK with the game,they own title,music and sprites.THey should keep the game low profile,posting info about it on popular gaming sites didnt really helped.

Yes, they own a lot of what was used as the basis for the game, but the result is not Sega's, and I am sure it would have a negative impact on Sega's reputation if they were to shut this down.

Let's wait and see what they're discussing at the moment.

How to mod:
1 Pick an interesting game: There are plenty of 8-bit/16-bit classics waiting for a remake
2 Rip your own sprites & stages
3 Use a custom palette: http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/tutorial.htm
4 Check your offsets: http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?topic=1099.0

Did you know?
Using void main()
{
playgif("data/my.gif", 0, -4, 1);
}

as spawnscript streams a GIF anim instead of loading it

i hope sega hire bomber, because the game industry needs people who make things with passion...

and for a guy spend 7 years in the same project it must be something he loves much to do...
if i was the CEO for any company he ill be hired

with sor remake bomber won hearts and minds... and this is what any game company are looking for!
i really hope he get hired and all this suspense is the real reason

Got my CPU controlled Ally stuck on a roof (stage 2 I guess, where you jump from one roof to a lower one). I waited about half a minute before I gave up and jumped off.

And I recalled a fire-spitting fat dude got stuck behind some box in a stage with conveyer belts. Neither my character nor the NPC character could touch him because he was out of the screen, until I called the police car.

Hi...the downloads are temporaly disabled because Sega was complaining about the remake...They are studing if Bomber has violated the copyrights...but im sure about he didnt because Bomberlink himself sent an email to
Sega asking or telling to them that he was working in the Streets of Rage Remake and asking permision...they never said NO or YOU CANT DO THAT...after that Bomber continued working and released the v3 ...and years later the V4...now, years later ..when the Final Version is released is  when Sega says something...
Let's wait for a while....thanks and im sorry my english sucks  :blushing:

that's ****!!

something similar happened with Double Dragon Forever. The guy asked for permission to Atlus and Brizo, Atlus didn't say anything but Brizo tell him to stop, so DDF was cancelled.

so bad for the homebrew community

I don't know why sega started complaining about sorrv5, bombergames asked them about making sorr with permission and all of a sudden three years from now they start pulling the plug after bombergames finished it. To be honest i say it's sega's loss for cancelling good games before they're done.  :(

Come on,we all know why.
If capcom and SNK would visit this forum and had the same attitude we would have empty forum.If they would keep the game low profile instead of advertising then it would live longer,it looked like official release and that probably made SEGA curious.

This is most likely the case.

I don't think it looked like an official release (certainly not with that artwork), but then again I may be looking at it with different eyes than most people. I did notice, though, that Bombergames overused the word "official" ("Official Streets of rage Remake development", " the official SORR V5 soundtrack", etc) which may or may not have played a role in SEGA's decision, whatever that decision was or will be.

False. They didn't advertise the game, but as soon as it was released word spread like wildfire. And of course, several major sites and reviewers picked it up and ran with the story. It most likely has to do with the donations that were being accepted for the hosting of the site, as SEGA probably thought it was for the creation of the game.

Yes, you're right.  I misread bWWd's post - what I was thinking when I wrote that was that word spread too fast, not that Bombergames actually advertised it.  Oops.

I realized that word spread too fast when I heard people talking about it on the Hard Light Productions IRC channel - it's not every day that the conversation topic there is Streets of Rage.
