Few PSP Version Questions
« on: May 09, 2012, 01:35:40 am »
I'm not only new to OpenBOR but also to the PSP.

The very right line of pixels appears on the left most side of the screen. Is this a problem with my PSP or something to do with OpenBOR. If its OpenBOR related, what causes this and is there a way to fix it?

Is there a way to get to the engine options during game play? I'm thinking about stuff like adjusting the screen size, remapping the controls, etc. Currently I have to exit the game, change options, and then reload the game. This causes me to lose my current progress.

In regards to progress, is there a way to save state? An SVN build or something along those lines?

When I want to select a second .PAK file to play I need to quit the engine and reload it from the start. Is there a way to get back to the .PAK selection screen while the engine is running?

To close OpenBOR PSP I need to exit the game and then exit the engine. Every Homebrew/EMU I've tried supports quitting via the PSP Home button. Is this an issue with OpenBOR or an issue with my memory stick perhaps?

Thanks for any help!

Hi, I've been using my PSP for homebrew since the 1.5 days. I think I can help. :)

This is a problem that appeared sometime after version 3600. I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm also pretty annoyed by it.

The same way you do it on other ports of OpenBOR; pause the game, then push the screenshot button. By default, it should be Select on the PSP.

Not that I know of, no. Save state would be great, but that feature doesn't even exist on the other ports of OpenBOR.

You know that pushing Home while on the title screen of any mod will exit to the PSP's xmb, right? If you push Home+Start instead, you go back to the PAK select screen!

Older versions of PSP OpenBOR used to do that (I think), but no. Nothing's wrong with your memory stick, or even PSP. PSP OpenBOR is just coded that way. Some other emulators work the same way, gpSP is one such example.

Hope I helped.  ;D

It could be after 3600 or 3609, I'm not srue. If someone can test that for me it would be easier to trace down the problem: http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?action=releases

NickyP, thank you very much for your answers.

utunnels, I would be happy to run some tests tonight. I'll try to find out which version does not shift the last line of pixels.

I was curious about some mods that do not run (A Tale of Vengeance, GI Joe (crashes when trying to load first level). A few I've tried crash the engine, others just run really slowly. I'm assuming that for those that crash there are incompatibility issues with newer builds of OpenBOR. Is there an easy way to try to get some of those files working? As for mods that run really slow, is this a RAM or a CPU issue, or both?

I also wanted to ask about the WIFI option? The menu says to hit Square to bring it up. I was looking forwarding to trying some ad-hoc gameplay. Is this an option that works or something that did at one point but was removed?

Thanks again!

The problem is still there.

Here is a screen capture, not sure if this helps you at all...

As you can see the right most vertical line of pixels is on the left side of the screen.

Oh snap, it seems I misunderstood what you meant. The lines are actually drawn from 4 instead of 0.

I'll recheck the code then.

Can you test this build in the attachment?
I wonder if it makes any difference if it doesn't by chance fix the problem.

Thanks for sharing this tip NickyP! I did not know about this useful feature in the PSP port! ;D
