keyboard config issues
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:33:41 pm »
I didn't find any similar topic, so I'm starting this one to see if anyone else had the same problem.

I'm using the latest build (3710), but I had the same issue on earlier versions. I also tested it with two different mods (MarvelFirstAlliance and KnDEndlessQuest), both of which feature 4 players, and on two different machines (one with WinXP, another with Win7).
[edit] I just tested with an older mod (Infection), and I didn't have any problems...

Here's the thing: when I try to reconfigure the controllers, to allow two players on the same keyboard (something I've done earlier with no problem), one players Down (always) and another player's button, either Attack1 or Start (or whichever else works as a Confirm button), gets mapped to the same button.

This is my typical configuration:

Player 1:
     [ w ]
[ a ][ s ][ d ]     [ j ] [ k ] [ l ]

Player 2:
         [ up ]
[ left ][ down ][ right ]     [NumPad1] [NumPad2] [NumPad3]

I've also tried switching Player's 1 and 2 settings, with no luck: whenever I press [ S ], to go down a menu option, I also select the next entry, and vice-versa.

Does anyone know what's happening?

Keyboards have a limited buffer so this is a hardware problem and  not a openbor problem.

Yeah, I know some keyboards act funny when you try to input too many commands, but, no offense, I'm not sure how can it be a hardware-only problem because when I paxploded a mod and removed the lines disabling the extra Attack buttons, the problem seemed to went away.
True, I didn't try this with every mod.
And this issue doesn't happen in *every* mod, just a couple. It should be more consistent if it were a hardware thing, wouldn't it?
