Wii support is here?
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:14:05 pm »
I just looked in the Subversion repository log, and SX appears to have added Wii support a few minutes ago!

Dang, I can't get it to compile.  Maybe SX isn't finished yet.  But hopefully he'll be done by Christmas, like you said!

No promises, because my priority is getting Dreamcast finished once and for all......  The reason I added wii was because, I was messing with devkitpro and wanted to see what i needed for gp2x to use devkitpro instead of open2x and start removing SDL references for consoles and have them highly optimized.

But who knows.... the wii could come soon enough since I do own one that runs homebrew.

SX seems to have made more progress: OpenBOR now compiles for Wii! :cheers!:
Unfortunately, when I run it, it crashes after the loading screen, so it's not quite finished... :'(

Well I would say I'm about 85% Completed.

Outstanding issues are....

Still using SDL for video and audio.
Menu is terribly slow for generating previews and audio playback content.
Needed to add rumble support still.

Otherwise things are looking great......  Maybe a Christmas present to all?!?!?

On a side note.... I was just testing out the frame rate and with Crisis Evil 2 I was getting somewhere between 333 to 500 fps!!!

Then when you enable filters which are for 640x480 resolutions, then they drop to anywhere between 120 fps to 25 fps depending on the filter chosen.....  Too bad no one ever wrote these mmx filters to run on ppc processors in assembly language for the ultimate boost.

I have to say my port is coming along very nicely....

SX you would sincerely make my Christmas a merry one, with this Wii port!  :cheers!:

That said, I'd honestly like you to take a breather for a day or two. You're a family man now! It's Christmas Eve tomorrow! OpenBOR coding will still be there when you come back on the 26th, take a break and enjoy the holidays. I know I'd really like that Wii port, but I'd feel bad if I knew what I was playing was the product of one man spending his Christmas coding away.

Actually tomorrow I will test the performance of the menu using OpenBOR through my usb hard drive instead of the SD Card.  I bet it should be 100 times faster and if it is... then I will leave it alone and most likely release it tomorrow after I clean up a few things here and there......

Well Wii is now useing libogc for audio processing instead of SDL.  This fixed sync issue we had in animations scenes.

Rumble support has been added.

Only thing that is left is either fixing the menu, or running OpenBOR from a USB Hard Drive because its much much faster I would assume (haven't test that yet).

Outstanding issues,
Well we are still using SDL for video and ram stats seem to be off a bit...... but thats ok for a release I think.

I will post an official SecurePak Release today.  With all supported platforms.

UPDATE:
Well it seems though one player functionality works.....   Multiplayer does not and I think its because its up to the application to register how many devices there are and what order they should be in......

Dang it!  I'm spending Christmas with family, and their ancient TV doesn't even have an "input" channel for me to connect my Wii to! :'(

I guess I'll have to wait a while to play that Wii port...
