The second stage uses 17 palettes, so it uses more than 2mb for palettes.

palette data/bgs2/fiend/pals/dawn1.act 0 1 0 0 0 1

You can remove the last 1 to cut the memory usage down by half, it is for fire magic's transparency effect.

palette data/bgs2/fiend/pals/dawn1.act 0 1 0 0 0 0 - When I removed the other  1, shadows were in a very bright grey instead of black for some reason.

Anyway, you won't believe it, but I got it to work on Dreamcast  - in Automatic mode  ;D

The mod now uses only 12Mbytes and the cuts to the game itself were mostly internal - well, except for removing NPCs.  :dunce:

Just beat the game with a friend on my 37" CRT EDTV - twice !!!  :laughing:

Yeah, shadow color needs to be change in lifebar.txt.

But if you remove alpha 6, all magics effect will be bad, especially the smoke from fire ghosts.

The palettes are huge that is a pain because we use a 256-color system, any blending features must be done with huge tables.

Unless SX gets the idea to put those into vram. lol

Yeah, I consider this version a hack only to be used until we have an improved Dreamcast port that uses the VRAM.

I didn't know about shadow colors in lifebar.txt...

Anyway, with "0 1 0 0 0 0" the smoke looks like it should. I removed all alpha 6 transparency in the other magic spells for now (since I removed "0 1 0 0 1 0" anyway do speed up the loading and cut the RAM consumption).

Yeah, smoke(in fact it is steam) use alpha 2, those smoke from fire meteors are using alpha 6.

Well, that is no a big problem.


0 1 0 0 1 0 must be mistake, it loads alpha 5 instead of 6.

- It seems it will take at least one hour to finish the upload  :nervous:


You'll need an ISO tool like PowerISO, ISOBuster or CDMage to open the CDI. (or just burn it to a CDR with Alcohol120% or BootDreams).


I had to use every trick in the book to get it to work ...and then some more... ^ ^

But hey, considering I had only 12MB to work with, I am actually kind proud of it. - Let me know what you think.

I am off to catch a few hours sleep. I'll post more info later.



Edit: For playing on PC (or other platforms), you will need to move MENU.BOR and REMIX.BOR to /DATA/MUSIC/ since I decided to change the file structure to optimize CD layout.

maybe not.dcevolution was always very quick for me(70-120kb/s).u should try to use flashget for dl.

Internet is strange, I sent file with SX through MSN and it is very fast, but that will be very slow with a friend in the same country but different ISP, interesting.

another strange thing is Lavalit was blocked in ?和谐China? but there's no infomation was not conducive to China.that's forced me have to use proxy service for visit here with very low speed.I cant' download any bor mods from here.then I forgot one thing that I cant' use any emotion icon when I'm posting.damn it.
