A Tale of Vengeance
« on: February 05, 2008, 05:24:21 am »
This MOD uses some new features, but most of its features are not so new,
after all its been in the making for 2 years, 1 on and off,
and another one off all because of personal issues.
While some might complaint about the MODs length,
it is story driven and it takes about 2+ hours to beat

OK heres a list of things this MOD uses

-=3 free specials=-

forward, down, attack
down, forward, attack
up, forward, attack

-=basics=-

(block) is used by pressing and holding special button

(special) is now mapped to attack 2 button per request

theres also running attacks ( now vulnerable )
running jump attacks
attack down while in mid air

added an sorta like an escape move to replace the special,
so when you press attack+jump still has an attack
but it doesn't take to much damage

-=other=-

It also uses the new GXFSHADOWS
Uses rain effect from FFRB Hack by Damon Caskey
Also uses the beach animations from FFRB Hack by Damon Caskey
Uses dust
Uses Escapehits for some enemies and blocking for others

Blockratio is also used, so you cant rely on blocking all day
because you can block from the front, but not the back.

Aggression was implemented as well,
while most of the peons are set to 1, bosses are not :P

Bosses health was lowered a lot since the demo was made
Enemies have been taken out to make the mod shorter,
no more endless fighting

Rush was also added ( 124 max combo for me so far )

4 color palettes for players

3 secret characters that joins the party after certain level

Extra mode after beating the game, nothing much

Some original stages never seen before in any MOD

Every level has its own music, and theres 10 levels in total with some of
them having sub-levels, all levels have good colors to them

Game might be somewhat hard, some bosses are cheap :P

-=Special thanks=-

Mr.Q for inspiration, wouldn't done this if it wasn't for him

Goes to Damon Caskey, for allowing me to use the Rain and Animations from
his FFRB hack that he made.
Also fo the support in other areas and for testing the MOD before it released.

Also Kbandresen for Testing and giving feedback on things i overlooked.

DCEvoCE for play testing and i know a DC version will follow :D ( hoping on this one )

To Orochi_X for play testing and giving feedback on things i could have done better, and with help on some issues.

Utunnels for giving feedback and also helping out with troubles i encountered, and giving ideas... you where very helpful my friend.

To bigmenace for testing and feedback.

To senile team for making this great drug called BOR

And last but not least, SumolX, after a rocky start you never turned your back on me, and where very helpful even back in the day coding stuff that
i requested for ATOV.
You also gave me the most feedback out of all, and are constant on it.
Thank you for being there and for keeping the engine alive with the help of the other coders we got here.

Hope you enjoy the game, and feedback is welcome, just remember one thing... it is a free game and this is the best i could
do with the time frame i am on. Also being away for that long didn't help either.
And now i take a break from modding :P

With that said please enjoy :)

Loll danno.  Congratulations on releasing the final version Alex.  I had alot of fun testing this out, and helping giving what solutions I could to certain problems. My highest combo was in the 200's with terry  >:D.  I think everyone will enjoy this mod right here.  This is one mod thats staying on my psp.

I love the scenes and music on the game, along with backgrounds and sprites. Enjoy your break, don't stay gone too long this time lol.

I think people will really enjoy all the available player characters and moves you implemented in this game.
Your hardwork really shows and pays off on the mod.  I'll try to download the final version later on today and see how different it plays.

As I told you Alex, it feels like something capcom put together theirselves lol. Its almost crazy how far the bor engine has come, and our possibility for making commercial rivalry games are almost limitless now. Thanks Sumol and Utunnels and all the other coders who have helped bringing it this far, I absolutely love this engine and the community of great modders.

Once again congrats Alex, and keep up the goodwork on modding, I think this mod is going to be pretty hard to top.  :envious:

Hey Alex, sorry I didn't get you a full review before release. At least now I'll be "testing" the finished product.  ;)

One thing I can say right now, is that title screen ROCKS! It's the best since Final Fight Apocalypse. It's simple, clean, colorful, and detailed all at once; a hard combo to pull off.

oh by the way people.... the combo fonts are different than in those pics, last minute thing, just like the POW is green in the pic, but now is red, had to be done due to palette issues, i think considering that i am using bors original palette, didn't know i could make one back then  lol
the colors turned out ok... still would be nice to have more tho  ;D

all in all, thanks for the comments, and i just hope that it is an enjoyable experience, tho a lengthy  one  :P

enjoy  :cheers!:

Just played it through. I'll post a full review when I can. My favorite moment though:

*SPOILER ALERT*

Spoiler
Mai taking her Chun-Li cosplays to a new level: Using Chun's MVC Seven Star Strike and SFIII Kikosho was damn creative, and I can really see that as something Mai would do. Good stuff!

About 8 hours real time, I played off and on all day at work.  ;D

In actual game time, I have no clue; maybe an hour or so? But you just gave me an idea. Since the engine's internal timer is open to script, I think I'll add a "how much time did it take you" feature into my stuff.

*Edit* Hey, I never knew we had spoiler tags; my bad. Thanks for the fix SX.
