Melty Blood Stimulate
« on: February 28, 2008, 10:19:59 pm »
Ahn over at the Senile Forum has released Melty Blood Stimulate in 2006.

Quote from: Ahn
This is my BoR mod. it is based on 'Melty Blood'

playable character is 4. Tohno Shiki, Tohno Akiha, Arcueid Brunestud, Ciel.

Not have story.

I made it for GP32. But you can play it in windows PC!(May be )

I haven't tried it myself, so I can't tell you if it's a mold breaker, a cookie cutter, good, great, bad, or ugly. Here is the link to his article if you want to give it a run:

Edit by CE: Added Screenshots and moved to 'Completed'.

Dreamcast version is available here:

Moved to 'Completed' (hope it's okay, DC)

Btw, welcome to LavaLit, NaOnaK :)

How to mod:
1 Pick an interesting game: There are plenty of 8-bit/16-bit classics waiting for a remake
2 Rip your own sprites & stages
3 Use a custom palette: http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/tutorial.htm
4 Check your offsets: http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?topic=1099.0

Did you know?
Using void main()
{
playgif("data/my.gif", 0, -4, 1);
}

as spawnscript streams a GIF anim instead of loading it

I remember this! This one flew under the radar for most modders, but it wasn't bad. Same things most mods suffer from, repetitiveness.

On the Dreamcast version, the game hangs up in "Loading...." screen after the fight with the Arcueid boss in stage 4(5?) Too bad, really wanted to finish it.   :( Nice to use play as Akiha in BOR, aside from MUGEN and the Melty Blood games.

You should be able to beat it if you set "Forced Memory CleanUp" mode in options, but it will increase loading.

I'll have a look and see if I can get it to work in Automatic mode (and what's causing the problem).

/me hopes for a "forcedcleanup" command for levels.txt

Ah, okay, that's good to know. That means it's likely a RAM related problem (what else could it possibly have been >_<).

I guess it would be good if the memory threshold for the Automatic mode in OpenBoR-DC would be raised then...

Thanks a lot NaOnaK :)

- Before I approve it, what version of OpenBoR is it using ? The latest build wouldn't require you to enable the "Forced Memory Cleanup":

http://lavalit.com:8080/index.php?topic=1100.msg15416#msg15416

I noticed UT made some changes to filecaching so it uses 4 MBytes of VRAM instead of Main Ram.

It uses OpenBOR v2.1613.
The .cdi's got a dummy file to make it fulfill a 700 MB CD-R and I also added selfboot.

I think I will approve it and then update it with latest OpenBoR tomorrow.

Thanks a lot for your contribution, NaOnaK! If you want to do some more; please keep them coming  :cheers!:

... but using v2.1715 should be better, because it offers much more RAM  :eyebrow_action:

Not it is 3mb. :)

...wait a second... - So, you've cut it down from 4Mbytes to 3 MBytes ?  :oops:
