You know NickyP... I had a point to all this... but sonofa... I have no friggen clue what the hell I was trying to say!!! What the hell am I trying to say?!
You started out by saying I have, in a way, insulted Kingherb by making this edit. That by making this edit, I have stated that the original wasn't perfect, and therefore slapped him in the face with my unjust and unruly slap of modification.

... Then, you countered yourself by saying that I lended a helping hand in letting it evolve to a further state of perfection, as well as giving it my own twist that rightfully places the "NickyP" insignia among it's opening and ending credits.

In conclusion: you really don't know what you're trying to say.

Furthermore, I sincerely believe this mod-edit is receiving far too much controversy within the community than it deserves. Honestly, people.

Furthermore, I sincerely believe this mod-edit is receiving far too much controversy within the community than it deserves. Honestly, people.

I think it's getting what it deserves. I remember whan I stated some bad stuff about Burnking's Avengers mod, and he took it like a man, and said he'll do better, that's the attitude.

Wouldn't be better just accepting that some of those "fixes" where unnecessary? It's like having a car, and knowing gasoline makes pollution, so you don't wanna do that and just put water to the car, and then you break it; The point is, you might have good intentions, which is absolutely right, but that's not enough to make things work properly.

Like everyone here, after playing your mods, we all think you can do better, and that would be more noticeable by doing your own mods instead of updating older mods 'cause we all have this image about a mod, no matter how many times you upgrade it, it's the very 1st impression what we all remember, and its meaning to its age of BoR-OpenBoR development.

I think I see what BloodBane and CE are trying to say; "too bad! If he would, he could do some amazing mods with his skills!"

Huh? when did I say that? I haven't even posted in this thread.
I know nothing of this mod aside of what others said.

Sorry, my mistake! I would have meant Mr. Q  :blushing:

I will edit that.

On a technical stand point however....
in order to learn how to paint like your favorite artist, you must "paint like them"....basically study their work and see how they put it together. After that, you learn how to improve it or make it grow so to speak, then progress it to the point where you have now evolved it or broken it down to a more simplistic form. Either way, make it your own.  Its much harder then it sounds...

What the hell am I trying to say?!

I agree with you, videogames are an art form.

And you have some point there, even if you lost it

The thing Kolbek is that you are already starting from the work of someone else, characters, stages, music, effects are all done previously by some other "artists" you know...
In fact, i find quite pointless to say that "fixing" an existing mod is someway worse than starting a mod. All that counts is the final result, if it is better than before it is woth it.
I obviously understand that creating a mod from scratch is more work than "just" edit an existing one.

Gaudi did not finish the Sagrada Familia, would we blame the people who finished it?  ;)

I think it's getting what it deserves. I remember whan I stated some bad stuff about Burnking's Avengers mod, and he took it like a man, and said he'll do better, that's the attitude.

If you read up there, you will easily tell i disagree with you. Don't you think we should wait the final result to express a concrete judgement?

The very first impression i had playing my first OpenBOR mod was; Wow! This sucks so badly!!! But i would have been an idiot if I had stopped searching good mods for that first impression.

I hope i explained myself in a decent way  ;)

OK guys, I've been trying to stay out of this, but I can smell a flame war beginning to brew. I think it best I lock this for a few days and let everyone cool off.

I'll unlock it on Friday.

NickyP, you just revived my interest in that mod. I tried the original version a while ago and loved the concept, the atmosphere, the characters, etc. But I hated the gameplay for 3 specific reasons:

-Slow walking speed.
-No dash/run. (Was only added later into the engine?)
-To use a special, you had to cut yourself, reducing HP each time.

Now, in DoR EX, characters have above average walking speed so, no need for dash or run. Plus, you converted the special cost to MP. I can use the special any time in my combos without worrying about HP loss.

I'm not a fan of combos that can go on even without a target, but I can live with that.

Anyway, I like the changes you made. The game is now a lot more fun for me.
Thanks for your work, NickyP!  :cheers!:

You can download the original mod at my website; the link is the first sentence of my signature. Go to the Completed Mods section and then under Dragons of Rage EX you'll see a link to the original.  :)
