Hello drawing enthusiasts!

What is this "Drawing Week Challenge" all about ?
The idea started at this topic, there me and Hide started to chat about a way to share experiences and improve our learning.

That's why we had an idea of a Drawing Week Challenge: A place were beginners to advanced drawing artists are welcome :)
It's where we share ideas, critics and comments that will help us grow with our own drawing skill.
As a community we have to help each other to achieve our goal, that is: to practice, learn, grow, express and inspire.

Ok, but what is the challenge?
Every week a challenge will be posted in Hobbies > Art > Drawing Week Challenge #X where the X means the current week counting.
Inside the created topic it will have a subject. That subject is what we have to draw.
Initially we didn't set strict rules, these rules well be created together with the community while this event grows.

Somethings before we start (rules maybe?)
  • Always follow the challenge subject
  • Never attach your images in your posts. Lavalit doesn't need to spend any more bandwidth
  • Always post your images using ImageHosting services such as ImageShack and Photobucket, if your service can't generate thumbnails, use the [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags between the images instead
  • Give suggestions about next Drawing Week Challenge
  • When you feel that you can help someone, don't hesitate and post something about it
  • Remember to always practice, without it you how can you grow?
  • Newcomers please visit My old drawings topic to introduce yourself with some art, that way we know that you joined our challenges :)

For now me and Hide will organize this events but of course, always with the help of the community. Join the crowd!

Regards,
Kormann

Kormann it's good to see that your on top of it I've couldn't done it any better then you. :cheers!:
Okay let me make this clear the word "challenge" should not be miss-interpreted as "competition" but as self improvement understand! :)

I have one suggestion let's make it starting Monday every week and the last day to turn in your work is on Friday, as for Saturday & Sunday just go out and enjoy yourself like what the Shredder say's "Go play have fun!" So what do you think guys?

One more thing this is not an assignment it's just an hobbie anymore suggestions is welcome.

Every week seems a bit much and for people without much free time cant put as much effort into the pic but then again guess you don't want someone to go hardcore and get the water paints out (right ?)

Also I'm not to clear where we post our pictures just start a new post or what ?

Yeah every first of the week of Monday to Friday, we'll start next week so don't start posting your drawings yet until me and Kormann sort out everything. And about the drawing challenge it self I want to see everyone draw the old fashion way with a pencil and paper then scan them in and host the images using a hosting service with thumbnails so it won't take anymore bandwidth from lavalite.

That said I Kormann or I will post an update soon.

Hi all! this is just a reminder that the last day to turn in your drawings for "Weekly Art Challenge" is tomorrow! ;)

this one will last until the other Friday (October 30th).

Incomplete or not is still exceptable, at least it show's that you've done something better then no work right? Btw if you feel that your too busy and have no time, let's say the majority of people here who is interested feel that they're too busy then perhaps I can make arrangement till next Friday since this is the first time we are doing something like this in the BOR community.

Give me your thoughts guys thank you. :)

I'll be taking a rain check unfortunately. I've been swamped in general, feel like Ive been getting pulled in 800 different directions- but in truth it's mostly my own fault. If I was just going to do what was asked I would have been more then done, but somewhere along the line I decided I wanted to do something different. It's still Cody, but it's different renditions of him instead of just flat front, back & side shots (I won't get into the specifics, lets just say it's some things I really wanted to try). I'm not trying to be rebellious or anything, I just was bored with the idea of flat views. This is why I even mention it- one, I don't feel comfortable posting something unfinished & two, it won't be exactly what you asked for, so- rather then be difficult about it I can always post it in a separate thread when it's finished. Your choice of course.

Yeah I can see where your coming from, you see when I was discussing it with Kornman about drawing with a bit of freedom with less restriction on how we usually draw. He mention about getting to know the basic's for begining artist first, like focusing on one main point of the body and get good at it instead of doing them all at once, well somewhere along that line if I remember correctly and correct me if I'm wrong Kornman! As for me I just want to see how everybody does with one set goal in mind and not go off the chart with something flashy I just want to see where's everbody is at and where they need work on that's all. In my art class I get bored too when drawing a certain part of the room & the objects in perspective like horizon line & the vanishing point very tedious work we spent the whole class hour doing it. But I always listen to feed back from you guys so I can discuss it with Kornman and as we grow we'll do things differently and in a more interesting way with the help of the community of course.

Btw we can have a section for "Daily Drawings" if you want since you ask for a separate thread but as for "Weekly Art Challenge" we do what's stated and that we all can agree on right? ;)

A new "Daily Drawings" thread wouldn't be necessary, I can just put it with my old drawings post instead.

A new "Daily Drawings" thread is just an suggestion since you asked about it.
