Sonic Adnveture Mod idea

I've came up with many sonic game ideas since interacting with other fans. One of them was to have a game were sonic plays like his original classic gameplay, but featured other characters who used their own abilities from the adventure and other modern games in a 2D setting to get through stages. I don't know any engines to accurately do this on, but I think OpenBOR is capable of some of the stuff I've come up with.

Sonic--------:
Gameplay 1 - Fast moving, platforming, kill enemies with a spin jump

Gameplay 2 - High speed stages where sonic run through, killing enemies, getting rings, dodging hazards(Think Battletoads stage 3)

Tails--------:
Gameplay 1 - moderate Speed, double jumps for flying, use gadgets for advantage over enemies, use a gadget to make certain robots help you(much like the recruiter grenade from Metal Arms: Glitch in the system)

Gameplay 2 - Jump in cyclone walker from Sonic adventure 2 for mech shooting gameplay, take control certain defeated robots(Will recover if not done soon, like fatalities in MK Outworld Assassins)

Knuckles-------:
This will take more explaining to get across my idea for him. A stage will start with you having to find a certain item in a wide area, and you have to find it or destroy it depending on the mission. Once done, that section ends(using end level items or Boss 1 entities) and the next one starts, with you having to fight your way to the next area and repeat or end the mission, deepening on the stage. Your missions could include finding an emerald/switch/item hidden in a box or robot, or destroying generators from spawning robots in area.
Example:
Find a key to get out of the area, fight to next area, destroy robot generator, end level.

I have plans for other characters to, but it would take too long to post them all at once, so I'll post more later. Tell me what you think and how you think it would work with OpenBOR.

Thanks. I've been thinking a lot about this, and if I do go through with making this for a complete mod, it'll most likely be short, I'm thinking 6 stages, each one having player 1 switch to a certain character, since I openBOR can handle 4 player support, it'll kinda be like 2 player mode for Sonic colors.

Sounds like a good idea. What i've been thinking for a long time now is Robotnic would make for a good Openbor enemy I think. He has tons of different forms on the spriters resource. And there are tons of sonic enemies on there too.

More then one time I've thought about Eggman to. For one, he will make an appearance in brawlers at a certain point(with other bosses), but as a fighter(in his mech from adventure 2). As a boss character, I plan on going Sonic Advance 2 style and have you chase him down as he shoots projectiles at you. I'll just need to figure out how to work them. The idea sounds good. But I sometimes feel Sonic's a bit... "overrated".
Just be sure to balance characters. That goes for Shadow... :nervous:
