Adobe Photoshop CS3 .gif files crashes the engine
« on: June 23, 2012, 12:51:30 pm »
I have 2 complete enemies in one of my w.i.p. mods. I remember making my 1st one with Photoshop 7.0, now I switched to CS3, I created my 2nd one next, tested it and it's CS3 causing something that makes the engine to crash when it loads any .gif file created by it. Is it just me? :nervous:

I know it's something to do with the new .gif files I created 'cause I replaced some .gif files, renamed them and they load just fine.

I swiched from CS1 to CS4 and have major problems not particulary with gifs.
But seems really buggy for various things such as digital painting...

Whenever I've had this problem it was because I'd accidentally saved a 16bit .png

Are you using the 'Save for web & Devices' function?

Did you try opening them in anything else?
try converting those .gif with another app like gimp or something.  I've had this happen with .gif thou for whatever reason before, just had to find something that would open it and re save.

I'm confused as to why you are using .gif anyway when making new images. There isn't any reason to use .gif when you have access to Photoshop. Switch to .png for everything new and your problems will go away.

Yeah, indexed png is the way to go.
