OpenBOR has a library full of "remakes", but let's be honest, most of them are atrocious. You can count with one hand the number that even try to replicate the original's mechanics and features, let alone succeed. Just as one example, there must be at least 10 Final Fights where Hagger doesn't know how to grapple, Cody can't pick up a knife, Guy forgot about half of his attacks, and every boss is a mindless mook with 1,000+ HP.

I can't agree more on that example. The boss issue is the worst IMO. It really hurt my feeling fighting these crippled bosses :P.
However, all of these make realize that ppl who loves these games don't love all element of these games. Most only love the heroes that's why most remakes we have focus more on the heroes than enemies.
And this is also why some modders attempted to mix certain games. They don't realize all aspects which create each game.
Also not all of those modders mastered the remade game, that's why the remake either has more lives/credits or easier than original.
Not saying I agree with all of these though.

Quote
Now that more modders are starting to get an idea of what the engine can do the door is open for remakes of any kind, only this time with justice done to the source material.

Yep and I hope they really do pay attention to the original games' details before attempting any remake.

Samurai showdown would make a good BOR. Kinda like how Mr. Q did AOF... Same story, just in a beat em up fashion... Ninja Gaiden (Arcade version) with new content of course. Maybe a few new playable characters added... Vigilante could use some serious help as well. SOR style instead of just left and right on one plain... Oh! Renegade could REALLY use some help to! Mr. K and the double dragon twins could team up... And if anyone remembers the old Spiderman arcade beat em up, that'd be tight with some added characters. And lets not forget about that old Superman beat em up... How about Strider! With Hiryu, Kain, Hien, Hinjo, and Sheena as playable characters. Yeah Sheena would probably require all new sprites, but if done correctly, the outcome would be worth it...

Maximum Carnage would be nice. Make it 4 player, so it's more like the comic arc where the heroes were fighting together.

.

Your right about that, at times I am thinking about all the new ways the Heroine can punish the enemies, and not once ever thought about the AI.

@ skeletor-ex, a Samurai showdown game would be possible done KOF style, we have a quite a few selection from NGBC and even The Last Blade, I would love to see Haomauru, Genji, Nakoruru, Kaede, Akira and that guy from the Shinsengumi.. cannot remember his name...

But all in all, it would be nice. Someone should suggest stages and even a plot. The villian should be the SNK version of Freddy Kruger.

This looks like an openbor game, yet it looks nice though.  But if it is, you have posted in the wrong section.

the combatribes
They were featured in a recent Double Dragon mod, but like most of those, the gameplay was bad and slow, it just frustrated me that these guys had to be featured in such a mod. No offense to the author, but that's just how I felt.

@cykillburn: That shot features a character by SkullKingz. Is this another of his mods? or someone hacked the mod and make new mod with his character?

Rage of the dragons would be a cool game. Playable characters could be Billy and Jimmy of course, Sonia, Lynn, Jones, Kang, Pupa, and Pepe. That's 8 playable team mates. Bosses could be, Abubo, Radel, Annie, Oni, Cassandra, Alice, Elias, and Johan as the final boss... That'll make 8 stages. I would suggest breaking all stages into 2 parts. (1-1) (1-2) ect... Only fighting the bosses on the second part of each level. As for reoccurring enemy's and henchmen, I would suggest using lesser known types, or borrowing some from other beat em ups, rather than using major mugen characters with different palettes. That just get's retarded...
