Download Locations (complete, demo, etc.)
« on: September 23, 2011, 06:07:19 pm »
This was never complete right? Why is it on the completed games download section then?

That section is really deceiving there are quite a few WIP games uploaded there and they are never deleted, doesn't someone check what's uploaded? Otherwise there's no need for a completed section just throw all games together.

There is no way the admins (and by that I mean me, since the others have been inactive for some time) could play through each uploaded module to see if it is fully complete, demo, IP or whatever.

Is there any way we could report this situations so you can move them to the proper section? Because I spotted a few already I even left comments on a couple, but they are still there.
People should be more careful when uploading or soon that section will become a confusion  :bored:

If you see one, go ahead and make a report. Problem is, people seem to think reports are for comments, so it gets chocked up and I tend to delete them without looking. I'll try and keep a better eye out.

:'( Oh noes wip mod is in completed mods section
---
Seriously, whats the big deal, if you would like the mod to be completed then send author message or something.
I personally would like to have all mods in one section cause its hard to find some mods when im not sure if it was demo or completed and i have to browse through both and if mod had name starting from C then i have to browse demos from A to Z and wips from A to Z and then completed from A to C until i find it, if mods would be in one section then i would find it more quickly, small notification if its demo or completed is enough, no need for separate sections, it doesnt help.
How about ALL mods category ? besides completed, demos ect.

What's the big deal? What's the point on having categorized download groups if you are mixing everything together in the same one? Makes no sense, to do it like that then just remove the categories and get everything mixed together which will be a huge mess, but if you like it that way then kudos for you. I'm sure the categories were created precisely because of this.
It's frustrating when you start playing one game thinking it is complete just to find out at some point that it's just a demo after invested some time playing it. Can't see what's the problem on having to browse both categories to find a game, you'll waste like 5 minutes max on it.

Its not frustrating.
Frustrating is when you dont know if mod was completed or short demo and youre looking in sub categories, all mods should be in the same category but there shoulb be a note attached on the list which indicates if mod is only demo or completed one.
So looks like game is crap for you if its only a demo, wow:) no comment

Someone who thinks that an unfinished mod is complete, doesn't really know about its progress. I might think it's stupid by the way some people upload when they think a demo is a complete version or maybe they want to upload to complete section because they think the complete place has more mods than the demos. They think it's popular maybe. Or maybe they want to be proud for uploading things that don't belong? Let's say Rael for example. Rael is a demo as we know it. I don't know why someone uploaded to Complete.

Plus, I see a banned members' project being already uploaded by somebody. It was supposed to be not uploaded. Maybe we should've warned someone that banned members' projects are not welcome especially SEEP's Prisoner of War. When I first looked it, I was like "What? Why is that mod uploaded?"

Why don't we start new thread confirming mod's completeness? :) other members could confirm based on what they know and we don't need everyone to check all mods. Admin could move wrongly placed mod based on information gathered there.

That would actually be a great idea Bloodbane! That should also make admin's life much easier. Maxman summed up everything pretty well. Good to see I'm not alone on this.

bWWd, who said a demo is crap? Please read my post more carefully, what I said is that it's frustrating to start playing a game thinking it's a complete version putting some time on it and then after some stages it simply ends.
I do play some demos to try them out of course, but I do that knowing they are exactly that so I know what to expect. Expecting to be playing a complete game just to find out it's a demo sucks.

I knew exactly that youre gonan say it but from your post it looks like you hate mod just because its not full version, no need to do it like that on forums, you can pm some admins if you find mistakes in downloads folders.

I don't see hate around here. ssj was concerning about why incomplete mods especially demos and wips are in the complete section. Plus, some users upload mods that don't fit in the category because they like the Complete more than Demos and WIPS. They don't care about users like us who really want to find the games that fit in the section. Those who upload in an unfit category dislike or don't like demos very much so they upload incomplete ones that don't fit the section.

I would agree with Bloodbane about it.

How is this even a problem, though? Whenever we finish a mod we always post about it in the Completed section of the forum, and subsequently upload it to the site. So what's the big deal?

I've had a problem that's opposite to ssj's, though. I remember before the site changeover I had completed mods that were in the demo section for some reason.
