More than one bbox per frame?
« on: September 08, 2012, 12:16:16 pm »
Why is there a limitation on only 1 bbox per frame? How do you define frames where can characters can be hit while attack? Is this done through scripting? If so, where can I find examples of that?

And are there any platform scripting tutorials?

as far as I know, yeah it's one bbox per frame.

it's possible to get hit while attacking, because you can use different boxes, 1 bbox and 1 attackbox. but only one bbox

Generally speaking a single bbox and a single attack box are more than sufficient for a beat em' up, because memory efficiency with multiple on screen entities is more important than pin point precision as in a one to one fighter. If you really must have multiple boxes in a frame, you can script your own collision using the doattack event if you wish, and in doing so effectively add limitless boxes of either type.

As Die_In_Fie said, bboxes and attack boxes can both be active in a single frame. In fact, they almost always are unless you are intentionally making an attack invincible.

Platforms do not require scripting. The are supported out of the box. See the manual for details.
